OK Raider fans. I know your team is going to throw up 45 on us and knock Jay Cutler silly. Now that we got that out of the way, I want your take on something.
It seems to me that the Raiders are facing quite a few changes in their Offense and we all know offensive changes take time. You might have all new recievers with Joey Porter and his foot surgery, Running back with Darren McFadden, Jamarcus Russel only has a couple of starts, and some changes to the O line, which wasn't the best in the league last year anyway.
Denver looks to be pretty much the same starters. Probably a new Left Tackle in Ryan Clady, and a new #2 wide reciever, yet to be named (counting on Brandon Marshall to be healed from the attack of the cheeseburger wrapper), but other than that, pretty much the same.
Do any of you think this is going to give the Broncos an advantage? Denver will have some more churn on Defense but D seems to come together more quickly. Should be fine by the opener.
I have to say this gives me some confidence going in. What do you think?

I hear what your saying but really I think that our first game will be alot like the style we played last. By that I mean we will run alot and JR will more just manage the clock and thow just to keep a D honest alot like Rothelsburgers first year playing. With Mcfaddden, Bush and Fargas we should be fine we run all over you gus. You guys wll probably try to do the same. Everyone knows our weakness is also the rush D, and all we can hope is that it was fixed by adding a real SS and sliding Huff over to FS, and the line issues will be fixed by the 2 or 3 Dline men added.

I agree. Tight offensive ball control from us, probably 45 carries spread over 3 backs, really trying to grind down you D Line, which is probably your weakness. In terms of D, trying to put Cutler on his backside as much as possible whilst hoping to stop your run game. So basically, the same as last year.
Who is going to be to your starting rb this year? Think Henry can still do a job?

First of all, Jerry Porter opted out of his contract and signed with the Jaguars, Ronald Curry has the foot injury.
Second, why would you create a thread labeling all Raider fans as illiterate idiots that are to busy drooling over "McHype" and blah blah blah; then come and ask for our opinion after you claimed we are all idiots to begin with??
You want my opinion, honestly, you guys should be better than last season, but I think your Defense is going to cost you quite a few games.
The Raiders are going to pound the ball all game, even if it doesn't work, then work some play action off the of the run; our defensive line is very suspect right now, we need to control the clock as much as possible.
It will be a close game, but I think/hope the Raiders are going to win.

Good Morning Gentlemen....
We will run, run, and run some more on our way to that MNF victory... Right now, our secondary is causing many sleepless nights for Offensive Coordinators, and it's only May!! How nice is that??
If Cutlet plans on throwing, it will be a loooong night for him, for we WILL man to man your WR's, and lock down the middle with Thomas (Pick for 6) Howard...
Cutlet 174yds/ 3INT's 1returned for TD
Do I sound confident? Why not? Based on how tight we played your aging franchise last season..... You guys couldn't stop Justin Fargas. Will you have better luck against the quick bulldozer Michael Bush, or the time traveler McFadden? WE win this GAME!!

Howdy Munch. Let me take a stab at this.
It seems to me that the Raiders are facing quite a few changes in their Offense and we all know offensive changes take time
Not really. It's the same system as last year. It's Kiffin's second year. The O-line will be the same minus Sims (thank God) with a couple of vets added. Cable did wonders last year and no reason to believe they won't be better this year. Russell knows the play book and got his feet wet last year. Now he has all of camp and preseason to get even better. Miller is still the statrting T.E who had 44 catches as a rookie last year. Curry will still be a starting WR with Walker and Carter who will be better the Porter was. It just comes down to route running and both are good at that. The running game was 6th in the league and hurt all year. Rhodes was out the first 4 games, Jordon got hurt and then Fargas got hurt. We still had 3 different guys run for over 100 yards in a game and had a 1000 yard rusher. Rhodes is gone, Jordon will be gone and we replace them with Bush and McFadden. BIG upgrade in my book.
On D we have only gotten better. Adding Wilson and Hall to the secondary has made us one of the top cover teams in the league. Our LB's are the same and they led the league in INT's as a group. Adding Spires, Edwards and Joseph to the line with a healthy Kelly and Burges will make us better. Add in Sands and 2nd year player Richardson and I'll bet anybody that our run D is much improved this year.
Denver looks to be pretty much the same starters
And that doesn't worry you? Your run D was just above ours and your O wasn't much better. In 2 games last year you won in O.T on a lame T.O and we Kicked your AZZ at our house. We have made many changes in a good way and you have stayed the same. If I were a Bronco fan (had to slap myself, sorry) I would be worried about opening night and the year.
Do any of you think this is going to give the Broncos an advantage?
Nope. If I were outsider looking in I would see the Boncos not having a WR to get open on Hall and Nnamdi. If Marshal can't go then that would be even harder. I could see us stacking the box and putting presure on Cutler all day while keeping the run in check. I could see your D holding it's own on are O. Your secondary is pretty good as well but Walker (someting to prove), Carter and Curry will be able to get open at times. Our running game may be what wins the game. Fargas, Bush and McFadden could tire out your D as they keep rotating in to stay fresh.
I have to say this gives me some confidence going in. What do you think
No you don't. LOL you love to say it. But I think we have more confidence then you do. That's the fun part of the start of a season. Everybody believes to some point.
I got a question fot ya. Who will win the games for you? You lost your best player in Elam. He won 4 games or so in the last second for ya. Do you think that Denver can replace him with another clutch kicker?

I know it's hard for you all to see, from the outside looking in, but the pieces are starting to be put in place. The Raiders are getting back to the old philosophy of "most teams will take what the defense will give them, the Raiders take what we want." We're still 2-3 players away on each side of the ball, but the time is coming soon for us to reclaim the throne that we've so generously loaned out.
As for the opener on Monday night, as usual it'll be one of those fist fights, where nobody is going to back down, but the Raiders have the final laugh in this one...27-20.

Funny, I have a great deal of confidence in what's going on with the Raiders, too. Many people might say it takes 2-3 years to make something like the ZBS work, but it took us less than a year for Fargas, who many of us had probably written off, to amass over 1,000 yards and it may have been the ZBS that caused Robert Gallery to not be considered an overall bust.
You might have all new recievers with Joey Porter and his foot surgery, Running back with Darren McFadden, Jamarcus Russel only has a couple of starts, and some changes to the O line, which wasn't the best in the league last year anyway.
Joey Porter plays on defense for the Dolphins. If you mean Jerry Porter, he's Jacksonville's problem, now. And the one with the foot surgery is Ronald Curry. If (and that's a BIG if) you believe everything you read or hear, Drew Carter looks better than Walker. If that were true, that's a plus because Walker undoubtedly has something to prove and will step up his game, and Carter will stay sharp to be either the #1, 2, or 3 receiver.
Russell stayed on the sidelines studying both the game and the playbook all last year, which makes his holdout irrelevant considering most organizations have their rookie quarterback sit out their first year, anyway.
