A bit of a difference between Pedro and Santana my friend one was on a decline the other has just been one of the best lefties the last 4 years at 29yrs.OK dude, keep telling your self that.
I'd be just a little concerned that Johan has already given up 11 dingers in only 60 innings.
That's for this year, I'm telling you this guy will not be what he is today 4 years from now
Yankees have enough bad contracts without making Santana another one, that's all I'm saying.
He might be good for a few years, but no way all 7

Yankee Fans have to love the fact that in the 9th, in Yankee Stadium, in the House that Ruth Built, all you heard was...
LETS GO Mets!
LETS GO METS!
LETS GO METS!

The fact that Yankee fans are now saying that they are happy they didnt trade for Johan Santana is hilarious... How's Phil Hughes worked out for you guys? How about Ian Kennedy? Yeah, 11 homers in 60 innings is a lot. It also demonstrates the fact that he plays old school baseball and doesn't pussyfoot around like most pitchers. He throws strikes and sometimes he gets burned. He's 5-2 with like a 3 ERA, plus hes a sick hitter and fielder. Stop being rediculous Yankee fans. Worry about your own team and the fact that they have a combined age of 7,000. That team is not very good, the starting pitching is not very good, and aside from Joba (who got hit hard today) and Mo the bullpen isn't very good.

Jizmo... did you just say Santana was pretty ordinary and any offense from the bottom of the order and the Yankees could have won this game?? I know it may seem like a giant shock but did you ever think that the lack of offense at the bottom of the order went hand in hand with Santana's pitching? Hmmm, logic is confusing sometimes.

Yeah bags first you criticize the Yankees because they held on to Hughes and Kennedy, then you criticize the Yankees for being 7000, which way do you want them to go?
If the Yankees signed Santana, everyone would have ripped them for "buying" everything.
Now that they are patient with some young guys, everyone wants to torch them because they are not an instant success.
Santana is a good pitcher, but 2 months into his 7 year contract is not anywhere near a barometer of whether the Yankees or Mets made the right choice.

See if you are still happy with Johan in the latter years of his contract, and where Hughes and Kennedy are then.
If Kennedy and Hughes don't pan out, at least the Yankees wan't be paying $150 million for their services, plus have given up a chunk of their prospects to sign Santana.
At this point, I'm still happy to wait and see.

Ideally, you want them to be in the middle.. Seems to me, the Yanks have pitchers either too old and on the downside of their career- Mussina, Pettite or pitchers too young- Hughes and Kennedy- who need alot more seasoning..hitters between 27-33, and pitchers between 25-34... How many players do the Yanks have that fit this age criteria? Wang? not surprisingly, he's your best player(Yanks are 13-21 when he doesn't start)

the lack of offense at the bottom of the order went hand in hand with Santana's How can you say that. The Yankees have lacked offence against most pitchers.
