I don't think it's official as of now, but it's gonna happen. I think it's awesome. VT will now have OOC games against Nebraska and Alabama next year.

Do you have a link to this? I haven't found or seen anything on it.

The last GA. Dome reference was for 2010 against Duke.

It would be great if they did play.

pc,

Haven't seen it yet in the AJC.  Would be a great game, but whats up?   I think Clemson gave up a game at Death Valley for this "neutral field" game.  Would this have been a Hokie home game?  I just cannot imagine Bama giving up what would be a home game every year to play in Atlanta.....fertile recruiting ground or not.  Bama and Duke would hardly be a neutral field game.

I suspect if this works out that there may be a move on the part of UGA to work with Florida to alternate the Cocktail Party.  Not sure I am in favor of that, but this may force it.

Lets focus on the VT vs. ECU opening game on August 30 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

Atlanta is overrated anyway.

I just cannot imagine Bama giving up what would be a home game every year to play in Atlanta.....It would still be a home game because Bama fans will travel anywhere to see their team.  If that means going to ATL once a year, many of them would be fine with it.  Just like Jacksonville last year, we gave up a home game and this yr with Clemson we are, but I will put money on it that Bama fans will turn the GA dome into a home game just like they did in Jacksonville, except they might actually cheer in ATL as opposed to Jacksonville.  This would be another great game for Bama to play OOC and boost our schedule from the creampuffs we normally have OOC.

Sounds to be a good game.  I am not a big fan of college teams moving on-campus home games to neutral sites, but I understand why they do it.

but I will put money on it that Bama fans will turn the GA dome into a home game just like they did in JacksonvilleClemson is 2 hours drive from Atlanta. We just might be able to even things out.

ng,

There is no doubt that a game against Duke will be a home game.  Maybe even to a degree against the Hokies.  But they had lots of folks there when we played them in the Chick Filet bowl.

But Clemson, no way.  That place will at least be even if not a slight advantage to the Tigers in the stands.  Clemson travels like few other teams and they have tons of alumni in the ATL.

Clemson is 2 hours drive from Atlanta. We just might be able to even things out.

Jacksonville is 2 1/2 from Tallahassee, and we outnumbered them.  Compare that to the roughly 10 hr drive from T-town.  The drive to ATL is just about 3-3 1/2.

But Clemson, no way.  That place will at least be even if not a slight advantage to the Tigers in the stands.  Clemson travels like few other teams and they have tons of alumni in the ATL.

BigDawgs, everywhere in that statement that you have Clemson or Tigers can easily be replaced with Alabama and Crimson Tide.

NG, I think you were wearin' Crimson colored glasses in Jacksonville. Either that or you were polluted enuff that Garnet and Gold started to look like Crimson...That crowd was decidedly FSU. By the way, who won that one?

Clemson has Atlanta roots. We aren't talking about Birmingham or Montgomery or Mobile. We are talking about Atlanta. When we play Ga Tech it is almost fifty-fifty, and that is their homefield. We will certainly be there in numbers that equal the Tide, and if I had to guess I would look more for a 60/40 Tiger crowd. And Orange cannot be mistaken for Garnet .
