In DHing there's a 45 minute or so in between your ABs, a time period in which many periods aren't doing anything remotely athletic. During those 45 minutes, players may get cold and lock up - similar to when used in the pinch hitting role. Dillon has been pretty abysmal in the pinch-hitting role this season (he's been doing much better when he's been playing in the game itself), and so I think he'll do poorly in the DH role as well. I think Tony Gywnn Jr. is more likely to be better in the DH role. And he'd probably stretch and warm up at least 10 minutes before each AB too, because that kid wants it more. Counsell has been struggling with PHing, so I'd almost favor Kapler over him, despite handedness and the fact that Kapler can't hit out of a wet paper bag since he "recovered" from his shoulder injury.
but lol@hall batting in the pitcher's slot:P he actually makes an appropriate 8-hole player - just as likely to get a hit as a pitcher. Hopefully he knows how to bunt like they teach the pitchers.
I'd say DH Braun and platoon kapler and TGJ in left for this series.
