I'm with you as a Christian, but the Bible certainly does not state the age of the earth anywhere---it is only inferred by some scholars. "7 days" in Hebrew could be 7 days or any 7 periods of time (billions of years actually).
But otherwise, I hear what you are saying. Most people now cannot deny the actual historical events of the last 2000 years---the evidence that there was a man, Yeshua (translated to Jesus), who was perported to have performed numerous miracles. This is documented my people of all faiths (including pagens) from that region. However, they can and do disagree on who exactly Jesus was. Specifically, was he the Son of God and was he resurrected? That is where the big differences occur.
