Seems the U of I lost 8 scholorships due to academics in football. Interesting article in the Statesman. They must have known it was coming as they only signed 17 to the team this year. So, not only do they not meet the minimum requirements for fan attendence, they aren't meeting the academic requirement of the NCAA at the 1A level. Wonder if there is a move back to the Big Sky coming.

GO BRONCOS !!!!

I've seen (heard) a lot of talk about this.  UI grads are down-playing this quite a bit.  They say that the reason they lost the scholarships was because the team purged players that were causing problems.  I guess I can see some discontent in the players when your team is so bad, and you have the coaching turnover they've been having.

Seriously, I think Div1A is a stretch for their program.  The school regents should consider a move back to 1AA.

Now how would that look?  A land grant University dropping back to Div 1aa while a community college continues on in Div 1a?  While I would love to see it happen, I don't believe it ever will.  UofI will do everything in it's power to "keep up with the Jones'".  That is exactly why they are running that university into the ground.

You know what they say.  Location, location, location.  It was stupid to put a university up there in the first place.  Things are only going to get worse for them.

Lol lobe!

Then there were those that actually tried to have the state capitol there.........

Remember when the Big West stopped football........ BSU moved onward and upward.  U of I just moved.......

Of course, BSU only have themselves to blame..... when the land grant came begging the community college to sponsor them into the WAC, we said okay. So, we talked Nevada into co-sponsoring and.... well ..... you know the story from there.

As long as we can beat them for another three years and make it 12 in a row, I'll be happy. Kill the streak.

Don't sell yourself short there Blue.  I won't be happy @ 12.  Maybe 26 will do it, but I'll just have to see when they get there.

I have to admire the UofI for getting rid of the "trouble makers" even if they get penalized in the short run - it will benefit them in the long run.

I was shocked when the BSU  quarterback "Dimwhit" was passed out at a stoplight behind the wheel and nothing happened to him.  He should have been suspended for the season at the very least.  I think Peterson has a lot more integrity than Hawkins but it did look like BSU would turn a blind eye just to win a game.....

WTF? Now we read where the U of I Prez just bolted to UC Bakersfield? Now there's a career advancement.  No wonder they can't get it together up there.

Maybe he wasn't academically eligable.

I have this strange deja vu feeling ......

Stay tuned folks. I have an idea this is just another stop on the train to nowhere. Last time this happened, everybody bailed out right before the Water Center scam.

GO BRONCOS !!!!
