Kudos on the thread EMTB ... here's my take on what I feel have been the top  offseason aquisitions:

1. The Oakland A's . Getting Eveland and Smith while giving up Haren has actually helped them the most. Did ANYONE expect the A's to compete this year. Not only that, but they have assembled a nice collection of prospects this past winter.

2. The Mets a) ... Getting Santana . With the way that a lot of their pitching has been, every Mets fan should thank God for the Johan deal. b) Schneider and Church for Milledge. .. I was hypercritical of this deal, but, once again, without this deal being done, well, would the Mets be where they are?

3. The White Sox  ... Carlos Quentin ... if it wasn't for Josh Hamilton, would he be touted as an early favorite for MVP?

4. Phillies... Brad Lidge ...Phils were 11-21 in one run games last year, Lidge has been lights out.

Worst trade ... I'm going to catch heat for this from some ... Tigers getting Fat Bast...oops, Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis. I know they're in first...oops, wait, oh well, I guess that one's not quite true. Either way, the Marlins are laughing their way to another huge profitable season with their payroll being covered by the luxury tax again, and a couple of impressive prospects.

BTW ... I'm not giving the Rangers kudos for the Hamilton deal because they gave up Volquez ...and the biggest need they had this offseason was pitching!

And he plays CF, a less demanding position.

Unless the Twins are pitching  *rimshot*

Its a hard one between trading Bedard and Tejada but i go with Tejada cause more players are in the majors.

"LUKE! Scott has been a good player and added something Jay Payton didn't last year and that was the power and consistant hitting. He started out hot and dipped into a slump but has been very good for the O's.

Dennis Sarfate is a strikeout (and walk) machine, but a good part of the middle relief.

Matt Albers has an ERA in the 2's as a long reliever and spot starter.

Tejada was a good player, but he had a bad attitude in Baltimore and something they do not have anymore. Plus he was 2 years older than he said he was.

14,

I said it before, I liked the A's part of the Kotsay-Devine deal when it happened and now.

That Braves bullpen could really use Joey Devine and his .60 ERA.

For the Cubs, Fukodome gets all the ink but Reed Johnson was an excellent pick up. Plus his availability saved them from trading a good prospect for some stiff like Coco Crisp

Oakland A's know how to put together a good team for little money.

The Best Move that the Indians made was NOT sending Cliff Lee to Pittsburgh for Jason Bay.

Lee is currently one of the best pitchers in the majors with 6 wins and an era under 1.

Bay is hitting a subpar .262 with 7 HR and 14 RBI.  Plus, not having Bay opened up a roster spot for Ben Francisco.  He's been a real spark in our lineup since being called up 2 weeks ago.

The Braves trading Renteria for Jair Jurrjens has been awesome.  Trading Renteria freed up some payroll and allowed Yunel Escobar a chance to
