Question #1:  Of you were a pitcher in the NL, how would you pitch to Chipper Jones?   Wow, he hits everything everywhere!!! Wow what a great year he has started.

Question #2:  How many more times will the great sports writers tell us that Glavine pitched for the Mets for the past 5 years and he pitched for his hometown Braves for 16 years prior to that?  Kinda tired of reading the same thing every time Glavine takes the mound.  Hey sports writers give us something new to read, not news that we have heard about since WINTER!!!!!

Question #1 - There is no real way to pitch to Chipper.  He is seeing the ball real good.  Anything that the pitcher throws has the ability of being a home run.  The real question is how long will keep this pace up and will he stay healthy?

Question #2 - They will bring it up everytime he pitches.  The writers should have something better to report.

Go Braves

#2- oh.. probably til the allstar break, at least. lol.

#1  VERY CAREFULLY!!  Chipper is so good at using the whole field when he hits and he has power to everywhere!!  I don't know if there really is a good answer to this question except don't throw him strikes, hope he chases, and then deal with the walks when they inevitably happen.  Chipper has such a good eye he won't chase much.

#2  Most likely every time he pitches for a while.  He went from the Braves to the hated Mets!  It's like when Johnny Damon went from the Red Sox to the Yankees.  On the verge of  blasphemy!

Question #1:  Of you were a pitcher in the NL, how would you pitch to Chipper Jones?
According to my own scouting report, Chipper is killing fastballs, changeups, and sliders this year.  However, he's missing some fastballs high in the zone.  If I can set him up with a couple of fastballs up in the zone, I'll try to freeze him with a curveball.  He's seen 34 curveballs this year, and he's managed one single and one home run against them.  He's only swung 10 other times, for 4 fouls and 6 outs.  He's taken 7 for strikes, so you might be able to freeze him here.  I like my odds with a curveball if you have good location and can set it up properly.  There's inherent risk, of course, that he doesn't chase or you don't get the high strike, and then you fall behind and you're doomed to throw fastballs for strikes.  Like many have said, it's not easy to pitch to him, but I'd feel a lot better if I had a power fastball/curve combination.

Question #2:  How many more times will the great sports writers tell us that Glavine pitched for the Mets for the past 5 years and he pitched for his hometown Braves for 16 years prior to that?Until someone makes them do actual research, actual analysis, or actual work, but that hasn't happened in years.

Question 1: - I'd hit him.  I mean its basically the only way you can be productive since he's going to get on base anyway ;-)  And as injury prone as he has been perhaps a plunk gets him out of the game early - hopefully the other teams don't listen to these posts though.

Question 2:  Until Fox announcers stop making random music comments during games.  Until Jon Miller quits mentioning that Joe Morgan is a hall of famer.  Until Pete Rose makes the Hall of Fame.  (I guess the question is which of these best represents the definition of eternity).

Go Braves '08!!!

Re: Pitching to Chipper

Chipper has stated in the recent past that with Tex hitting behing him, he is seeing alot of pitches to hit, therefore he has the opportunity to be aggresive at the plate. Thing is, if Tex don't pick up his production, he isn't going to be seeing many more pitches to hit in the future.

question 1
If I was pitching to Chipper, just like pitching to another great hitter (examples...Rose, Gwynn, Carew, Helton), I'd challenge him. Throw a lot of off speed stuff, and basically not throw anything in his wheelhouse.

years ago, I'd pitch to some tough hitters with a great sinker, making them pop up the ball, time after time
most pitchers, it seems, want the hitter to hit a ground ball, they usually get beat by the batter

question 2
The media will always talk about Glavine's tenure in NY
The media of this country is New York based
therefore we always have news and info (NY centered) shoved down our throats
example: the Clemens story....it'll never go away...........................................

Go Braves 08!!!!!
