On stud farms,Mares are forced to conceive in unnatural ways.Drugs called prostogladens are injected into the Mare to reach fertility. When they reach, it Mares are virtually RAPED and impregnated by stallions 4 weeks after they give birth. In natural conditions mares give birth to foals once every 2 years. In the racing industry thoroughbred foals are weaned at 3-5 months in preparation for the next foal. The brood mare is often pregnant 90%of her life.If a foal is born with any minor disability it could mean an early exit from life.Although foals are sold for thousands of dollars their not guaranteed success. Many horses disappear after their first few races if they make it that far.     In preperation fir their first race the yearling will commence in a training regime that willput immense stress on the immature skeletal frame. This causes lower limb ailments and injuries including fractures, pulled ligaments and srained tendons.Only 300 out of a 1000 registered horses will actually run a single race. The rest are slaughtered and made into dogfood.   For 22 out of 24 hrs a day they are stuck in stalls the size of a standard bedroom.Reasons for this are

1-Racehorses respond better to humans and racing when isolated.

2-It's more economical

3-It's easier to manage and care for the horse.

4-The horse is less likely to sustain injuries in the stall opposed to being outside the stall.

These confinements lead to abnormal behavior, like woodchewing, box walking, wind sucking and weaving.

The 2 year old racing is particularly cruel,as horses are not skeletally mature until 4.

Most race horses are retired after4 yearsdue to injury, illness, inability to win in higher classes.

A study shows89% of trained yearlings suffer from stomach ulcers caused by stress and diet. Many of them get deep bleeding ulcers within 8 weeks of training.A study of untrained, show 0% of stress or ulcers!

Bleeding lung is caused by excessive exercise.Horeses over 5 are more likely get haemorrhaging-lunghaemorrhaging is a world-wide problem among racehorses after racing.

Horse's prematurely drawn from races are referredto as a "wastage".For the 70% of RH that never run a race, their lives are expendable.otherwise worthless.18,000 ex-RH's are slaughtered everyyear in Australia.Horses are shot in the head with rifles or with a boltgun. The kill isn't always instant!

THE HORSERACING INDUSTRY EXPLOITS and THEN DISCARDS the HORSES!

DON'T BET ON CRUELTY!

This is a message for all those who race, bet or watch this madness,if you care for life then you would put a side the love of any exploitation of any animal sports, including the circus!

Where do you get this info?  Horses are euthenized here!  This isn't Australia.  Go hug a tree over there.  In Asia they eat horse.  In Arabia they slaughter them.  So why give us this crap in the US.

Write a paper and cite the proper references.  "53.5% of statistics are made up"  I read that on a Hooters wet nap (literally) and I don't spread it all over the place and write up reviews.  Create a legislation for horses and don't bore us with suspect data.

Thank you for bringing this information to the attention of us that really do not know what goes on.  That is what I mean, we have to speak for the animals, and protect them..

We only see all the glamour the day of the race, but really do not see the cruelty. Yet, I do believe some Owners, Trainers  treat their horses well.  Not all of them though.

Would you be willing to die for a horse?

$500 Million......What does your absurd question have to do with anything?  Trying to keep race horses from being maimed or having to be killed has something to do with being willing to die for a horse!

I have a question for you:  Is it a shame that all those decent people who have died in all the wars defending our country done so in order for you to have the freedom to spew forth such a ridiculous question?  The answer is yes!

FastEdBETS......Here are the facts:  "why give us this crap in the U.S."?.....because that is where many forced to race horses have been and will continue to be maimed/killed.......and regardless of what the situation is in other countries is it a positive for the U.S. to be among the countries where horses are eaten, slaughtered, etc.? and do you not know that horse meat is consumed here in the U.S?!

and evidently you do not comprehend that being mean spirited in telling others to "go hug a tree" is convulated thinking because without trees you would not be breathing! ....and you have no understanding about the value of trees so you expect others to be as lame on the subject as you are?

and please do impress us with all the "legislation for horses" you have been involved with! - go ahead we are really anxious to know that you put your money where your mouth is!
