As sick of this as most people, my conclusion of what really happened is.... the mountaineer put the rifle to the man's head when he signed the contract. What a loser.

Who twisted his arm to sign the Michigan contract? I read that it also includes a $4m dollar buyout. I cannot see the difference if the buyout is his main concern, why sign the same clause with a new school. Looks like if he did not want the $4m buyout then he would have had it reduced for the Michigan job.

I completely agree with you. Something's not right here. Either Rodriguez is an idiot, had awful agent representation, or is a complete liar. The reason I say this is because we're talking millions of dollars here and he was "pressured to sign" on the verbal promise that his outstanding requests were going to be taken care of? I'm sorry, if the only reason I'm staying at a job/signing a new contract is because I'm promised something by my boss(es), I want that promise in writing as part of my contract. Otherwise, I'm not signing it because I'm not being held accountable by contract to something that I don't think is fair. So 1) his lawyer/agent gave him awful advice, 2) he didn't bother consulting his agent/lawyer (this I find very hard to believe, but I wasn't there so I won't make the claim), 3) he's a complete moron or 4) he's a blatant liar. I'm struggling between choice 3 and 4.

Go here and read his depo, the writers here gave him a positive spin. After you read it, all doubt will be removed, and choice 3 is the clear answer.

- It is what it is......let's put this crap to bed and turn our focus to a championship run sans RichyRod, and then the folks will forget about the embarrasing way that the coacn and the school handled this situation. You've got to believe that RR believes his position. He signed the 4mil clause with UM because the chances of them getting rid of him and having to pay him are a lot greater than the chance he'll bolt for somewhere other than the NFL. Face the facts......he obviously wanted to be at UM more than WVU, and as a Mountie thru and thru (living in Buckeye country) I think that's a shame, but on te bright side, I will at least be able to root for the atrocious buckeyes at least once a year which will make my life a whole lot easier!

I find it amazing that the Michigan brass sits idly by while its premier coach makes himself look like a complete neanderthal. They can't possibly think that this won't eventually begin reflecting badly on the Michigan program, particularly with these latest revelations. Why is Michigan allowing this to go on instead of just working something out with Rodriguez to pay the money and be done with it?

Don't get all worked up about anything Rodriguez says. The truth is not in him. He is just trying to justify his actions any way he can. He knew perfectly well what was in the contract and besides, what kind of "pressure" was really being applied? Were they threatening to fire him, kill his family, kick his dog, or what? This is all just smoke and mirrors. In order for there to be real pressure being applied, there would have to be some kind of implied threat that something bad was going to happen if he didn't comply, otherwise, why even consider it pressure? What a cry-baby!! Ha Ha

You see. That's only half of the story. Not only did the Mountaineer hold the musket to his head to force him to sign, but he also held the musket to his head and forced him to leave for Michigan. There's no other explanation for his leaving.
"Let's see. I signed a contract that says I have to pay $4 million if I leave. No problem. I won't leave, and then I won't have to pay the $4 million." DUH

The more Rodriguez says about the situation the worse he sounds. He is beginning to sound like the baseball players who didn't know what "it" was when a shot was being administered in their rear ends. It's a complete disgrace, and the guy is a big crybaby. It also makes him a very strange fit for Michigan, which is extremely image conscious. The Mountaineers may end up being better off in the long run without this dope.
The Michigan regime will never tolerate this crap on an ongoing basis. Nobody expects much this year, but if he doesn't win a Big 10 title and beat OSU by year 3, he's as good as gone.

I think at this point RR is willing to say anything to keep the real reasons hid for his departure whch is he wanted more MONEY ....That is fine but why not admit it at least?
The guy really makes me want to throw up sometimes .........
