Not a fan of the Faiders at all, but how is it that everyone says their O-line is horrible. Last year they were ranked #5, could be wrong but i know top 10, in rushing and they cut their sacks down by 30. I think they will cause the Chargers more grief then the donkeys or Chiefs will.

Do we know if JaMarcus Russell is anything more than a tower with a cannon arm? Is he a true NFL QB? I don't know that. Do you?
I'll take that question. And the answer is yes. Adding to the cannon arm he also has been showing great work ethic. But don't take it from me. Take it from the coach
Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports Oakland Raiders head coach Lane Kiffin said Thursday, April 24, that he has been impressed with QB JaMarcus Russell's preparation this offseason. "He's having a phenomenal offseason. He came back 10, 11 days before we even started," Kiffin said. "So he was with our coaches and with our strength staff before everybody else got back here five weeks ago and he hasn't missed a thing since. Most the guys are really here three, four hours a day. He's here about five-and-a-half, six hours a day…He's here first thing in the morning, he has position meetings in the morning, he goes in and lifts and he goes in and runs. He comes in and changes and goes back out and throws with the guys. By far he's in the best shape since I've seen him, even if you go back to his pro day at college. So I know he's real excited about the upcoming season as well."
Now let's see, people were questioning his work ethic prior to last season. His weight was in question yet he is in the best shape since he's been here. It appears as though he is proving people wrong wouldn't you say? When you take a quarterback who has all the tools he has who puts a lot of work in and actuallly pushes himself to get better, you will have a good quarterback. Great? Maybe, maybe not.

And a horrible offensive line? That's a questionable statement for a team that produced so many rushing yards don't you think? I'll admit to that probably being our weakest link right now, but there is no question that they were one of the best run blocking lines in the league. Their pass blocking improved greatly from the year before, but they still have a ways to go. It was the all the penallties that made me sick last year, but surely if you knew what you were talking about, they wouldn't be considered a horrible line. A horrible line doesn't exist under Tom Cable.

Let's put it this way.....after last year and the heartbreak of Russell holding out, us true Raider fans expect the worse and want the best. Maybe someday we will be back in the playoffs.

Such hatred when someone mentions the Raiders. Had this question been about the Texans or Chiefs would the responses be the same? I am not dilusional to think the Raiders are going to be in the superbowl, but an 8-8 record is not out of the question.

It's very obvious who actually knows the sport (patriotjoe) and who simply spews rhetoric from "writers" and anti fan slogans. The Raiders are improved over the past few seasons and the steps they have taken lead anyone who loves the games to realize they have improved. Will they make the playoffs??? Don't know - neither do you. Will they challenge for they division?? Don't know - neither do you. Will they suck??? Don't know - neither do you.
But if you look at it intelligently, from a football perspective, all they need to do is gel. Just like most teams in the NFL, each season is about how well they play togehter THAT SEASON.
I think they have done enough to turn heads this season but I certainly won't make any declarations such as "they will win the division" or "they will win no more that 2 games" but I will say they show the talent to be right in the thick of the competition.
I love when guys try to trash the #5 rushing team by saying they have a crappy O-line - it just shows us what apendage you think with.

Why you attacking me i like them. I just dont think there deep enough. They have a good 1 x2 punch at RB. A great 3rd down back in Lamont Jordon. Who reminds me of Larry Centers. Their D is thight. I never bad mouthed the Raiders once.

They have pick up some players, but will still be at the bottom of the barrel.
The skill positions are young, 2nd yr QB, McFadden will be a bust (like Bush). They have Javon Walker, but he is a classes act.
They picked up some on the DEF, but still have a long way to go....
They may win a couple of more, but legit. NO...
