Maybe I'm missing something, but where exactly does the ignorance come into play? I'm positive the fans of those sports are acutely aware they finished short of where they'd hoped they would. Just like I'm sure (Fill in the blank with 117 teams) are jealous OSU made it to be big dance again.
We as fans just hope that our team is in the running at the end of the year. We can't expect victory all the time but we wish for it. True fans weather the ebb and flow of winning and losing; supporting their teams come what may. Maybe, if your team didn't lose to every good team they faced last year, they might have made the game.
Is this just an attempt to drive up your rating by trying to piss off the biggest group of fans on the block?
So far the only ignorance I see is your not knowing what the word means.
