Well our first pick (16th over all) of the 2005 Draft just continues to impress me, in the wrong way.  After 3 years in the league he has only recorded 1 sack and seems to take plays off and just make bone headed plays.  The incident with Trent Green I kinda of understand but he had other penalties last year that just killed us.  Travis Johnson you have got to step up your game.

So we have had this offseason to wonder what the draft would bring and we picked up some good players but we all knew that there would have to be someone to step up on the D-line to help out Mario Williams.  Omobi Okoye will be in his second year and with our line coach Jethro Franklin yelling and screaming and working our guys I hope he can give some help on the inside and make strides like Mario did from year one to year two.  Where else will the help come from?

Well it looks like Frank Okam my get his chance sooner than later.  I was just disgusted to read in the Chronicle today that Travis Johnson has not been at camp yet because he is off getting married.  Now granted that I don't know all the information about the circumstances around choosing the date but I would think that a man on a team would think enough about his team to make sure he was in camp with everyone else instead of getting married that week.  There are 52 weeks in a year and for him to choose this first week that the team gets together is selfish to me.  So Okam is getting alot of reps and Gary Kubiak is excited about what he sees in him.  Still I was looking for Johnson to step up his game this year and help out the team but it looks like he is just still the same ol' selfish guy that has been on the team the last 3 years.

There really isnt much to gain by  Travis Johnson getting those reps over Okam in a 3 day rookie mini camp. This is going to be a blessing because Okam could be a key factor in the improvement of Travis Johnson and Okoye. With a big guy like that taking up blockers Johnson and Okoye should find an easier path to the QB or RB. If we can keep this guy healthy and Franklin can keep his motor running he is going to have a huge impact even though he wont have the numbers to show for it. Just disrupt the middle and clog the lanes.

Its the same deal with Duane Brown getting the reps over Salaam. Lets get these guys up to speed as fast as possible.
