They even gave him a standing ovation after the 7th inning.. Keep working hard Eric. All it will take for you to win the fans back is a few good outings. I was kind of hoping he would pitch the 9th so he could have gotten a save last night.

and then they boo'd him off the field in the 8th.

and then they boo'd Stetter.

and then they boo'd Mota.

doesnt bother me none, pro athletes can be boo'd, no big deal. i just think you should have mentioned this in your thread.

It will take a few more good innings to win them over but 1 bad inning to lose them all together. Gag-me sucks!

they didnt boo him off the field. there were a couple trickling boos during the 8th but for the most part, the fans showed their support. Stetter deserved the boos and they even cheered him when he got the two popups.

The cheering/ovation was pure sarcasm and likely nothing else.

Why did Ned Yost have him back out for the 8th?

For one, Gagne had primarily been used for 1 inning(closer)

And two, he had a successful inning which would have been a boost for his confidence.

Is this a Yost type thing to do?

Because if the Brewers are going to have to do the 'closer by committee' thing for a little while, that is very hard on a bullpen and they'd like to use a pitcher as much as possible.  Basically, it was about saving the bullpen as much as possible.  The Brewers don't have played games on 7 straight days and play 6 more games before an off-day.  With the back-end of the rotation struggling to go deep into games the way they are, Ned was trying to do whatever he could to minimize the "taxing" effect on his bullpen in a blowout game.
