As long as the Irish don't play Rutgers the schedule is fine with me.

kerins, you lied.  You said you were finished with talking, etc. about RU.  Why do you tease us then break your word.  We were all looking forward to your stopping.

Funny posts all - it is obvious we are in the dark days of CFB; between spring ball and training camp when NOTHING really happens - even recruiting is quiet for the most part.
My only point here is that this is really a non-issue. There was no offence intended towards RU; ND wanted to play in NYC, RU is building a new stadium, it did not work out. ND was not arrogant about it (although some fans on this post have been) - they moved on, and another up and coming BE team without a big stadium jumped at the chance to play ND in front of a large crowd, likely on national TV. Rutgers made the right decision for themselves at this time. There should be no reflection on either program about this - it was a business decision for both programs.  I respect RU for their academic standards, and am glad to see they are doing well in football. ND had an off year, but looks like they will improve in the upcoming year with another year of experience and another stellar recruiting class. If ND falters to another sub-.500 year, it is likely that there will be a coaching change, but it is way too soon to give CW the boot after 1 bad year.... even 1 really bad year. So... no hard feelings RU. Lets move on and bash some programs that are more deserving. For example, programs that pay their players (USC - football and basketball - when are these guys getting the death penalty for Christ's sake?), have no academic standards for their athletes (Texas) or have a less-than-ethical new coach (Mich).

Good luck RU. Go Irish!

bomber, not wild about your name, but I really appreciate your calm, rational approach to this whole mess.  I agree with you.  I am certain that both teams will prosper and a few years from now, very few people outside of Jersey and South Bend will remember this mess anyway.  You are the only ND fan who admits the motive behind this move.  Thank you for restoring my faith a little.

Are you seriously that thick-headed that you honestly believe that any team that doesn't give in to Notre Dame's ridiculous demands is irrelevant in the college football world?

Absolutely!! It's sad Rutgers had to choose that path....

So what? All teams should just not play against Notre Dame or forfeit their games because they are the "face of college football". Sorry, Notre Dame loses its "rightful" demands after a 3-9 season, they fall to the back of the pack in "rightful" demands.

By the same token, do you honestly feel that Hawaii should have been in the BCS last year? How about Illinois?
(Don't just say yes

YES

What a childish answer.

What a childish answer. That's why I ignored it. He didn't have any response, and didn't want to be proven wrong, so he reverted back to the smart-alecky fourth grade response.

jtjmas- You say you have to win almost every game to make it to a BCS bowl game is wrong. I think it was in 2005 when Florida St. lost 4 games and still made it to the BCS bowl game. I just wanted to throw that out there. They ended up 8-5. They made it to a BCS Bowl game. Now thats bad. I just wanted to point that out.

Here is a little break down from 2002-2007.

Rutgers 2002- 1-11. (good season) lost to ND 42-0. Lost to Buffalo, Villanova,Temple.

ND 2002- 10-3 (good year) Lost in the Gator Bowl.

Rutgers 2003- 5-7 (not bad) Lost to Uconn.

ND 2003- 5-7 (Not good) We had 1 bad loss. Syracuse

Rutgers 2004- 4-6 (step back) lost to New Hampshire, Lost to Uconn again.

ND 2004- 6-6 (so-so year) Lost in the Insight Bowl, Again 1 Bad Loss BYU.

Rutgers 2005- 7-5 Winning Season. Lost in the Insight Bowl. Good season

ND 2005- 9-3 (BCS BOWL) Lost to OSU. We had a chance to bet them in the 4th.

Rutgers 2006- 11-2 (Great Season) But you won in the Texas Bowl. ND Was in a BCS Bowl.

ND 2006- 10-3 (BCS BOWL) Lost to LSU. The other losses were Michigan and USC.

Rutgers 2007 8-5 (Big step Backwards) Lost to UConn again. I guess ND is going to play the better team with Uconn. Yes you won another Crappy Bowl game again.

ND- 2007- 3-9 (Really bad year)

Overall ND has 43 Wins and Rutgers has 36 Wins. ND has been to 2 BCS Bowl games.

Look Please dont make it like Rutgers is this great team. They Had 1 good season in 6 years. Still never made a BCS Bowl game. I agree the Deal was a little Screwed up but ITs ND. This would of been great for Rutgers. Look do I think Rutgers Sucks No, I think they are a up and Coming Team but please dont go with SOS. ND is always in the Top 5 - 25 every year.

2008 Schedule

Rutgers- Frenso St, UNC, Navy, Morgan St., WV (New Coach), Cinci, Uconn, Pitt, Syracuse, South Florida, Army, Louisville. Not so great.

ND- SDST, Michigan, Mich St, Purdue,Stanford, UNC, Wash, Pitt, BC, Navy,Syracuse, USC. We took a step back with our Schedule and we still have a tougher schedule then you. Look I love ND and I like Rutgers but when Rutgers Fans try and come on this board and try and debate between ND and Rutgers your wrong. They dont compare. Good luck this year.

This is Big for Rutgers when we start talking about Rutgers on the ND board. I guess Rutgers is becoming a football team. This is a step up for Rutgers. I reallly thought I would never see this. I understand OSU, Mich, USC,BC, but Rutgers. This is weird for me.
