I been to Municipal Stadium a bunch of times when i was growing up
But i guess you lose track of time when you do a lot of travaling

I guess i missed it when they took down the Municipal Stadium back in 1973

1 i would never take down a land mark when it was built back in 1923

man i am going to miss that Stadium...There was alot of memeries that i had there
but i guess i have to look at all the memeries i have when i used to go there as a kid and when i was a teenager

Just this morning when me and my Daughter was going threw Kansas City i thought i would stop buy and show her where Municipal Stadium was
and it was not even there....So i saw a cop go by and he ended up stopping and i ask him what happen 2 it

he goes they took it down in 1973 and i just gave him a funny look and just gleared into space...he goes why whats wrong
and i go onlything i have left of that place is memeries....the cop told me i have memeries 2 of Municipal Stadium just back in 1971 i went to my 1st baseball game and caught a home run

I told him onlything i have left was a signed baseball by the whole team...I have no idea what happen to it...It might be in storage

I told him thank you and got back in my truck and went on...I told my daughter that was sorry...She told me not to worry about it...You did alot of traveling you just did not know...and i told her thank you and we left and went back doing our business

...What about you guys....Would you take down a landmark that was built in 1923 and put in a rose graden and then put in new houses there later on down the road

I mean look at it this way...Municipal Stadium was home to these teams
Kansas City Blues
Kansas City Monarchs
Kansas City Blues/Cowboys
Kansas City Athletics
Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City Spurs
Kansas City Royals

would you do the same that the Kansas City Area did to a landmark that was built in 1923

As noble as your argument may be you have to also consider the cost of maintaining the structure and how feasible was it to do so. The city of Irving, TX is tearing down Texas Stadium to make a strip mall/office park, there goes a place with 5 SB Championships and countless HS playoff games, including some with Chase Daniel. Heck there are strip malls built over Civil War battle fields. Bonnie and Clyde killed a pair of cops in Grapevine, TX within 50 feet of the same location there is a BBQ restaraunt and an Exxon. It happens dude, as old as you portray yourself (amazing how you went fro 12 to 50 the last week) you think you would know this by now.

Steve
New York Yankees and the state of New York agreed not to take down old Yankee Stadium
Yankee stadium is where some of the most greatest hitters played baseball and some of those players even pitched at Municipal....I think Babe Ruth and Cy Young both played at Municipal a couple times before they retired
Unless the Yankees and the State of New York changed there mind
but they are taken things that belong to the world ...and that is land marks
Landmarks and memories on where teams used to play
What happen if one day the Kansas City A's come back and want to see where they used to play baseball
they cant becuase its not there no more
Its just like Chicago after they got rid of old Soilder Field...That was a landmark
What is going to happen if the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals end up going else where
Because LA is looking for a new team and Kansas City is on there list
what are they going to do take them down 2
I mean just becuase they are getting fixed up to stay till 2030 does not mean nothing
One team could drop out of the contract and go else where
You just have to remember...These landmarks are important to the City and nation
and i know for a fact that Buck O'Neil was not happy one bit when he found out that Municipal Stadium is gone
Are they going to take down Kemper Arena since the Sprint Center is in town
no...Becuase Kemper Arena is a land mark and its where the Kansas Jayhawks used to play
If i owned Municipal Stadium it would never come down...It would still be standing today...
The stuff i remember about that stadium are gone...and Kansas City took them away when they did tha

Maybe you are so old you are senile, or maybe you’re just an idiot. Not sure which. And by the way, the Chiefs will never leave KC. You’ll watch the world end and write a dumb a$$ post about it, before they go to LA.

He's just an idiot and a liar gi hoke.  I doubt if he is really 18.  He's got one post where he would have to be about seventy, but just not too long ago, he said he just graduated from college.  Now he has a 14 year old daughter.  He is a sick young man.

Gooey, why wine about Municipal Stadium, its been gone 35 years. Ever watch Cities of the underworld on History Channel? There are places around the world with far more historical impact buried undeground/destroyed, sad but true, see the world as it is because time keeps moving on.

First off, both the Royals and the Chiefs extended their contract with KC through 2018 as part of the remodeling bill that was passed. So, neither the Chiefs or the Royals are going anywhere for a while.

Secondly, Kemper is not still standing because it is where the Gayhawks use to play. It is only still around because it is where a lot of concerts where being held, and it use to host part of the NCAA Tournament. However, because it is such a dump the NCAA pulled the tournament out of KC until they were willing to build a new arena, hence the Sprint Center. So, now all of the concerts are at Sprint Arena, and the NCAA Tournament will be played there, which means that Kemper won't be in use much longer.

Third, I'm pretty sure that if you walk in downtown Chicago you will still see Soldier Field where it has always been, and is still where the Bears play to this day. Although they did gut it, they didn't tear it down Goo Goo.

There have been stadiums with a lot more history than Municipal that have been torn down before. While it is sad to see some go, its not the end of the world.
