I am sorry that Ohio St plays in the easy road to hoe Big Ten.
Equalizer, hoeing the road is wasted effort -- the traffic will keep those weeds down anyway. On the other hand, hoeing a row of corn or beans keeps down the competition for groundwater.
The BigTe(leve)n does have it's share of weeds, but what conference doesn't?
Another trip to a NC game could well be the one that breaks the SEC stranglehold.

The Big 10 is terrible! There is no way OSU is #1. The SEC and Pac 10 are by far the two best conferences. USC is the best there is. Sanchez has played behind some of the most premier quarterbacks.

Really? And the Big 12 has 5 teams in the preseason top 15. How many from the Pac 10? Thought so. I'd bet they beg to differ that the Pac 10 is "by far" one of the two best.
Sanchez has played behind some of the most premier quarterbacks.
Seriously? John David Booty is a most premier quarterback? He's so mediocre to poor that he lasted until round 5 before Minnesota took a flyer on him. Had he not played at USC, he probably would have gone undrafted. Ever heard of Kevin O'Connell? Didn't think so. He was a QB taken a full two rounds before Booty. I guess by your standards, Kevin O'Connell must be the "Mostest Premier Quarterback"
Two excellent points though. Well thought out and fact-based.

no doubt about jdubb,
USC could be the preseason # 1 and even as a Georgia fan I would not disagree. Both USC and Georgia finished strong and have great talent heading into this fall. The only nod I might give to Georgia is the QB position, Stafford will be Jr, and Southern Cal's Sanchez is good too, but not the number of starts as Stafford.
Schedule is easier for USC but should anything else other than the "perceived" best team in the country at this time be considered? Georgia will have its hands full, home games include Bama, Tennessee, while road games include Florida, Auburn, South Carolina and the big one in Baton Rouge vs LSU, at least no Perilloux for LSU. Georgia will be watched closely this season and their fate is in their hands, with one loss to end the season I think they make it to Title Game, possibly vs USC. That would be a helluva matchup. LSU made the Title game with two losses last year. Timing of loss can be crucial for either team but one thing is for sure, The Ohio State has had their chances, I really wish the media would back off that team and show some love elsewhere.

Hey gator lover. Perriloux was a disease. I think LSU will be fine, if not better, without him. When was the last time LSU needed a QB with great stats to win games? Matt Mauck and Matt Flynn had good numbers but not great, and they won National Titles--in their first years as full-time starters. Kind of like...Jarrett Lee. The only two LSU QBs in recent memory with outstanding passing statistics were Rohan Davey and Jamarcus Russell. Neither was able to win big when it counted most. If you want to talk about LSU not being up to par this season, then make it about all the leadership and defensive talent lost. Not a QB who really never proved himself anyway. Then you will at least have a valid argument. By the way, I seem to remember a lot more about Mark Richt being the one who outcoached opposing teams last season, not the other way around. Especially in the Florida game.
No matter what, if the SEC champion makes the BCS title game, then we all know who is going to win. I am kind of pulling for Ohio St. Its funny to see them get all excited every year and see the disappointment and shame in their faces when they realize they are simply a second tier team outside of the Big Ten.

Washington? I agree with the Texas and USC calls, but...Washington? Washington who has gone 11-25 over the last 3 seasons. Im not sure, but I wouldnt call Washington a tough OOC game, especially when compared to ASU.

If OSU goes undefeated and beats USC and an SEC team in the championship game will people finally give them a little respect? Probably not as I still hear people saying that the game in 2002 was decided by "bad calls" and "cheap shots." I can't believe just because they have played like crap in the last 2 NC games people are saying that they shouldn't get another chance if they have a good season! Unbelievable!
Am I the only one that thinks USC has something to prove before being ranked pre-season number 1? No matter how good J.D. Booty was or wasn't the Trojans didn't look nearly as good last year without him. I know USC is always loaded with talent but they are going to have to adjust to a lot of new players. I guess I'm just not sold on them as all ready being the best team in college football.

It does not matter at all who is ranked #1 to begin the seson. But for a team that reached the national championship and returns 18 of those players and has a top 10 recruiting class, why does any dispute that they be ranked number one? As an OSU fan i could care less if we be ranked #1 and actually would rather let Georgia have that spot. Yes, the Big Ten or Eleven or whatever people want to call it, has been down the past few years, but Ohio State has not been. I don't know much about Georgia's history and if they come up short or not but I do know as an Ohio State fan we came up short plenty of times under the Cooper regime. However, since Tressel has come to Columbus Ohio State has done nothing but perform to one of the highest standards in college football. His numbers are equal to Pete Carroll and this team has as much talent as anyone in the country. Georgia ended | |
