First thing to due is blame roids.......  You turd.

Then the other guys says because he's over weight.........you turd.

What....only overweight people have tendonitis?

Everyone is an expert.  He had knee surgery which started with his cleat getting stuck while swinging 2 seasons ago.

Plus, there are plenty of people who benefeit from career moves.  One thing you notice, his averages are about the same as they were in Minni, however, he didn't hit as many home runs.......however.........he didn't strike out NEARLY as much as since his home run totals came up.

Looks like he prefers to swing for the monster, rather than the hefty bag!!

Completely agree.  Knee problems are not an indication of roids or weight, and are devilishly hard to recover from even with surgery and PT. For example, anyone with flat feet is susceptible to knee problems from the pressure put on them with the feet leaning in. People with extra-flexible joints also get problems from the patella sliding around during exercise, etc.

I like to think his HR totals have something to do with the team he plays for - hitting coaches do matter, even for great hitters. When was the last time the Twins finsihed Top 5 in average or HRs?  They just don't do hitting in Minnesota....

Tallimeca....Your thread gets a "Five Star" from me for two reasons...1)  Extremely valid and LOGICAL points and 2) The poignant use of the word "Turd"

Seriously though; it is getting kind of sickening that everyone wants to throw the steroid label on anyone who is successful.  As a true baseball fan I am appalled at all the negative "steroid attention" our beloved sport is getting.  Not that I have anything good to say about steroid use; but I am sick of hearing about it everytime I turn around.  Steroids has definately left a blemish on the face of baseball; got it!  Now, lets move on and work on correcting issue, stop belaboring the fact that steroids have tainted baseball....If we don't know that by now we are living under a rock in the Bahamas.  Football has steroid problem, yet they quietly clean up their sport....Why can't the media let baseball clean itself up without constantly telling us how much the "Steroid Era" has hurt the game.  I am a firm believer that if the baby is ugly; you must say it....I just don't think you need to keep rubbing it into the parents face...Once they are told and admint they have an ugly baby it is time to move on.

My apologies; I am done babbling....Ortiz is incredible; great guy, exciting to watch and a huge part of Red Sox nation...I hope he returns to full health soon.

Unfortunately, that's what we've become a society of "Guilty until proven Innocent".  I do disagree with the weight assesment though.  Having had 5 knee opertions on my right leg, weight loss takes a lot of stress off of the knee.

I would hate to think this guy is juicing, because he is one of the good guys in the game. Hope he gets back to the level everyone is used to seeing him play at.

these people that are saying he took steroids have obviously never seen papi outside of his baseball uniform... If you take a look at him in regular clothing it is plain to see his is NOT juicing...
