ADAMS NOT READY TO RETIRE

May 7, 2008 8:43 PM

Posted by ESPN.com's Bill Williamson

Sam Adams is dead set on not letting it all end the way it did last season.

Adams, who'll turn 35 next month, is working out with intentions of signing with an NFL team and prolonging his NFL career. Adams, a first-round pick of Seattle's in 1994 who has played for six NFL teams, was cut by Denver last December. The three-time Pro Bowl player and a Super Bowl champion with Baltimore wants another crack.

"I don't want it to end like that," Adams said, "I have more football in me. I can help a lot of teams."

Adams said he played at 355 pounds last season. He said he is down to 340 pounds and plans on playing this season in the 320s.Perhaps teams such as Tennessee, Oakland or Seattle would be interested in Adams.

"I can still dominate," Adams said."That's what I plan on doing."

Especially if he has a chip on his shoulder!  Doesn't sound like he would command a large salary so I say bring him in.  Even if he doesn't "dominate" he would at least add solid depth.

I say no.  He hasn't looked very good at all the past few seasons and has had major weight problems.  I can't see him making our team.  He says he can still dominate?  And monkeys might fly out of my ass.

He would look great on our line in between Jason Taylor and Michael Strahan.

And with Adam Archuleta behind them for support, we would be set for a good 9 years on defense.

Tenney, is there anyway you can be more sarcastic...lol

Anybody over 35, unless their last name is Favre should hang it up and coach.

How bad did Denver's run d suck last season? And they cut him? The team didn't have a shot at the playoffs, so it didn't matter, but still. If we did sign him he'd be ready for Travis Henry or whoever totes their rock. I know he started 14 games for us in 2002, the Super Bowl season. That year he only registered 21 tackles & 2 sacks and that was 6 years ago! I think he's done. The Dolphins could use him as a stopgap 1-year solution, that would be his 7th team and 4th in 4 years.

DT is the one position where size matters most.   That's the only reason I would consider his fat @ss regardless of age.  Also, he's a veteran with some experience that could help out with other ways besides on field.

Tenney -- c'mon -- you know Jason Taylor would only come over if we could get Zach Thomas and Dan Morgan to hold up the back of the DL...

I'd rather bring back Long.  Howie Long.  Than this fat tub of lard.  The dude is good at one thing and one thing only: taking on the buffet line.  Pssh.  Next.

Fat players don't plug holes. Proof: Terdell Sands. This will be my last year posting on these boards. I'm getting the hell out of here once Vick gets out of prison. I don't want to have to break my computer screen after seeing, "What do you think Nation, should we take a chance on him?" threads.
