Patriots Fans,
What is the point of seeking an apology? For eighteen games in 2007 you rooted for the best team in football AND a team whose coach violated the rules so egregiously that the NFL levied an unprecedented punishment. These are the facts, and this is your team, for good and ill. No one can deny that your players collectively have accomplished more this decade than any other team. And yet you cannot wipe away the ugly residue of a major cheating scandal simply because it would be convenient to do so. You accuse others of "hating" your team, and I'm sure there are a lot of irrational people out there who do hate the Pats simply because of their success. At the same time, however, are Pats fans who choose to bury their heads in the sand and ignore the cheating issue any more rational than the haters? Belichick is a brilliant coach, but he is also very Nixonian in the sense that he didn't have to cheat in order to win, and still he was so intense and so paranoid that he cheated anyway. This, Pats fans, is your team's legacy, whether you like it or not.
