You would think that the big story surrounding the Sox in today’s Sun Times would be the sweep at the hands of Toronto, along w/ Uribe's gaffe, and perhaps a continuation of Ozzie's insulting blowup. But no, the top story about the Sox is the fact that they have blow up dolls in the clubhouse. Are you kidding me?

Who the heck cares about blow up dolls.
The problem is that once again...we wasted a fantastic outing by Javier Vasquez...He was brilliant last night and the only mistake he made was to Matt Stairs.
Toronto's hitters had no problem dropping bunts, slapping little base hits, doubles, and the like...how come our guys can't?
Because of Greg "hit the long ball" Walker. How's that working out Greg...our best hitter is now batting a robust .280 something...thanks Greg!!!
Our team ERA is in the low 3's...and our BA is .240? Guess who should be the odd man out?

If the Chicago SunTimes shrank to a new low, well what about the White Sox Franchise?
I am so tired of fans making excuses for athletes and their poor behaivoral choices. The White Sox and the management potentially had a million dollar lawsuit on the hands and did nothing but sit on their hands. The fans who support this behaivor are a joke. The same fans want an athletes head when they do something wrong, see Tank Johnson and Cedric Benson but accept this stunt. Sadly enough, they took a prop idea from Major League the movie, and pushed the envelope into a dangerous lawsuit situation for their employers. No harm, no Foul is the reaction, but common sense say it is not right. The Players and the team should be fined big time by MLB baseball because it is a black eye and as a professionals they should know better. The players or whoever put it up, did in a public viewing area risking sexual harrassment laws big time. If they need a target to hit, they could have done it without a blowup doll. Hell, they could have probably purchased an inflatable player of their archival enemy the Cubs instead. But the White Sox sank to a new low. Atheletes should be role models and be held accountable like everybody in life. Because they are in public their actions speak louder than the average Joe. How does every Father or parent in that clubhouse feel now that their spouse and children know what goes on? The White Sox are very lucky that all that has happened was being on the froint page of the Newspaper as Sexual Harrassment Suits have won multi-million dollar suits.
As for the White Sox blowup to a baseball fans reaction, it is not OK. It just shows what the White Sox immature and offensive. As for women, they should be offended. Big Time! For the White Sox team and its fans on why they feel like they are second to the Cubs. Well it is because of their stupidity! Violence and women are no part of the game, what would be next, putting a blowup doll on the field for target practice?
But, the diehard White Sox fan I am sure says no harn, no foul. Well sorry, but Ozzie and company got caught with their pants down and the Suntimes is only reporting the story.
As a Cubs fan, I could say a lot of negatives about the White Sox, but I don't have to because the players do enough damage. Ex-Cub Sammy Sosa is proof of that.
We as fans of Baseball, must stop giving players a free pass
Maybe if they were treated like the average person, nobody would need to make excuses for them and the Boys would be treated like Men. As for Ozzie and his rants... well kids do watch and he should remember baseball is suppose to be PG rated. There is no need for profanity as kids look to him as a role model. Try explaining to your kid why he says it. And for Lee Elia and his slurred speech, try explaining what you said to a child. It's not funny anymore.

Gw, why are you even here? Yes, we're not happy w/ the Sox offensive production and the excuses thrown out by management but this isnt about that. It is about political correctness crossing the line. Grow a pair, will you?

You are the epitome of the type of fan that makes most sports reporters suck...you care more about what happens off the field than on. Slezak never called to interview Ozzie or Kenny Willaims before ripping Sox leadership in the story. The Sox new that there would be no women in the clubhouse that day, and said that they would have removed the display if there were. How can it be offensive to women, when there were no women there ?
Even the Benson story irks me, and you referenced it here. Listen close....NOT EVERYTHING THE MEDIA SAYS IS TRUE...ESPECIALLY SPORTS WRITERS ! Telander called for Benson to be released because of the boating incident, on the day of the event. He does not know the facts...none of us will for a while. Benson may be guilty, he may also have been railroaded by cops in Texas for nothing more than being a strong black dude. Don't spout off on an organization till you get some facts. Most of us are here on this board because we are sick of the crap that is spouted out on a daily basis by sportswriters and sports radio hosts who are looking to make a name for themselves by embellishing about stories that they don't yet know the facts about.
Finally, look at your own Cubs, who rob their loyal fans by taking the best tickets, and illegally filter them to a ticket brokerage that THEY OWN, and then charge 4 times the face value for those tickets ! Cubs fans, on several occasions, have shown their class by throwing trash all over precious Wrigley Field, including last week when Carrie Wood blew another save. Judge your own damn organization and players and fans !

Let's not forget the "Hory Kow" shirts outside of Wrigley or a former outfielder taking 5 years to finally admit that he should have taken responsibility over the foul ball incident, rather than letting a fan receive all of the blame . Talk about immaturity.

The Bartman incident is an awesome point Atomic ! Cubs fans cruicified this poor guy, sent him death threats, made him move, made him change his job. The media went along with all of it, hounding him, and basically taking away his life. Kerry Wood and Mark Prior, who sucked ass in games 6 and 7, got no blame. Alex Gonzalez, who blew a double play ball, got no blame. Bartman, who all sports fans know did not cause the Cubs to lose that game, almost got killed.,...and you talk about making the players accountable ! Alou cried like a baby during the game, after the game, and then five years later says that it wasn't Bartman's fault. If that story doesn't prove the idiocy of both the sports media and Cubs fans, nothing else does !
If you read this board, White Sox fans make their players very accountable. Thome and Konerko run a huge charity for Foster children, donating tons of money, and getting millions more in donations, for kids who have no parents. Reinsdorf is known for his charity work, including buliding baseball fields for handicapped kids all over Chicagland, and rebuilding parks as well. You don't see the media make a big deal over that stuff....that stuff never gets on the front or back page.....and come to think of it, you don't see the Cubs management doing these things, but you do see them stealing from their own fans by setting up a ticket brokerage and charging their fans 4 and 5 times face value for good tickets !

gsswan,
GMAFB. Slezak is making a mountain out of a molehill for he own personal gain, so people would talk about her. This happened in the clubhouse, behind closed doors...Carol Slezak wasn't there, she was back in Chicago. In fact no women were there. This is like someone critisizing you in public for a dirty joke you pull in your own house. I'm so tored of this political correctness that is being thrown around. Show me where violence to women even comes into the equation here....IT WAS A STUPID PRANK to get the moral up and the mood to lighten.
The Chicago media love to rip into the Sox and Guillen for his tirades, but when Lou does it, it's cute and funny. Oh let's not f | |
