Forget about 4-4 with two doubles on the night. How about two stolen bases for the big guy? Including stealing third just now to get into sac-fly position with one out. I just wish somebody else in this line-up would show up tonight... Oh, balk. That sucks. Tacky way to tie it up. But I'll take it.

Whupps, make that 5-5 with the game-tying run on a two-out hit in the 8th. Unbelievable. Carlos Lee finally comes through with the game-winning hit. Let's close this one out, Valverde.

Is it too early to order my Lance Berkman MVP T-shirt?

He is a beast. If the Astros can keep moving up in the standings it is possible, but it is going to very hard with the big man Albert Pujols carrying the Cardinals with junyard dogs.

Oh, I agree with you that it is going to be hard, but Berkman is historically a slow starter so when he starts out this hot it is hard not to get excited about the possibilities.

Meant to say with nothing but junkyard dogs. While Lance Berkman hits between Miguel Tejada and Carlos N. Lee.

Definitely get excited. I have always been a Lance Berkman fan for some reason. Always try to get him in fantasy and have him on a first place team. Even tried to trade for him in another league.

But you are right about the slow start. Because Albert Pujols never has HUGE power numbers, it is possible that Lance takes it regardless of who is better in the standings, if he can keep up the production.

Yea, I definitely agree there. Pujols has no protection and he's still unbelievable (I'm using that word a lot tonight for some reason), not to mention the Cards have a better record. But if Berkman keeps this up... I dunno if you can deny sheer numbers. I'll tell you though, he's loving the protection in this line-up. Before this, the best player he's ever had batting behind him was Morgan Ensberg. I just can't help but wonder what his numbers would have looked like over the years if we had managed to get Tejada a few years earlier.

And he sort of got the shaft tonight because I think he lead off an inning three or four times. But if Bourn ever learns how to get on base, Berkman's RBI numbers are going to be enormous.

I'm a Cardinals fan, and Carinals fans genuinely dislike Astros, but I'm a big fan of Lance Berkman.  The man is impressive.  It's gonig to be interesting to see who starts at first at the All-Star game, because we all know Albert Pujols will keep up the good work.

What's ridiculous is that any one of those guys might not make the team. Pujols, Berkman, Derek Lee, Ryan Howard, Prince Fielder, and Mark Texeira (just to name a few) are all going to be competing for it. This could be a very high-scoring year for the national league in general with all of those great hitters.

Berkman is on a tear right now. 4-4 last night and 5-5 tonight with 1 HR, 4 doubles, 6 runs, & 5 RBI plus the 2 stolen bases. Hes been unstoppable lately but i dont see any way he can keep his current pace up. Hes already raized his BA from about .300 to .350 just in the past week and a half but hes got to cool down eventually right. Hopefully not to soon tho i am a big berkman fan and Astros fan for that matter and the entire team is playing awesome right now not just lance. If he can play anywhere near this level for the remainder of the season tho he could be taking the MVP trophy home this year.

Berkman needs a friggun haircut...that white trash curl he has is disgusting. I'll bet he could pitch better than any of the 2-5 Astro pitchers as well.

I LOATHE the Astros...I live in Houston and they annoy the crap outta me. But I will never ignore the fact that Berkman is amazing. What is truly amazing is that he played outfield for a while (CF too!) and he could clear that much area with his size...simply outstanding.

Well, I don't expect him to hit .350 on the season. But keep in mind, his career OPS is 100 points higher after the all-star break than before the break. He's a notorious slow starter. I predicted .319 on the season for him, and it wouldn't surprise me one bit. He's quite capable of having a career year.
