I am not the least bit convinced that Manny Acosta is the answer for the Braves as the closer while Rafael Soriano is on the disabled list.

Of course, I'm not sure what other options they really have.

On a positive note, it was another strong start for Jair Jurrjens tonight.

Good Strikeout Royce Ring!!! He showed nerves of steel, that foul ball to start the at bat scared the poo out of me. Adrian Gonzalez is down, now I think Jeff Bennett is in the game...Jim Edmonds is slumping, but he's known for his dramatic hits. Go Braves

He's facing Kevin Kouzmanoff, he makes him pop out to Mark Kotsay and the game's over. Four Game Winning Streak!!! Jeff Bennett gets his first career save and Jair Jurrjens gets a career high eight strikeouts in his 4th win of the season. Go Braves

Good win tonight guys. A little dramatic, but a win is a win. Maybe the Closer by Association is the answer until we get Soriano, or Gonzalez, or Smotlz get helathy. Way to come through when it matters, Royce and Bennett. We are over 500 now, and I hope it stays that way. I see that we get to face Ledezma Thursday, let's hope this isn't like last year when Mark Redman mowed us down

I know Cox takes some heat..but a good move to get Acosta out of there after giving up 2 hits..when presented with a chance to close..close it..don't mess around

a 4-game winning streak and hopefully we can get on a roll here..

Chipper is starting the season with a bang.  Hopefully he can continue this through the whole season without being injuried.  Chipper is the MVP for the beginning of the season.  He is seeing the ball so well and teeing of the ball out of the park.  The game was well played.  Pitching was very excellent that's how the starter should pitch most of the time.  Everyone is having part of the team when someone is not having a good game.  Well Timmy will start tommorw hopefully he pitches well and the bats will come alive for him.

Go Bravo

Chipper is more than hot.  In the past year he's batting something like .360, which is leading the majors.   As far as his srart tot his season, I don't have a lot of hope that he can finish with .400+ avg.  Just doesn't happen anymore, and especially not for a power guy like Chipper.  However, He is playing his way into a strong consideration for a triple crwon this year and unquestionably the MVP of the young season.  When people talk of Chippers HOF credentials let's tkae a look:

-8 straight seasons of 100+ RBI

-Trails only Mickey Mantle and Eddie Murray in switch hitter HR leaders

-Rapidly approching the 400HR marker

-1999 NL MVP

-Has NL record 45 HR in one season most for a switch hitter

-Only switch hitter to amass 300+ HR with a .300+ BA (still has to work to keep that but doesn't seem a problem the way he going)

-1995 World Seris Champion

I think by the time he retires he is going to be a lock for the HOF.  Maybe not a first ballot but he'll make it.

Also, I've said it several time now on several threads, but I think the Jurrjens/Renteria deal will go down as the deal of the next decade for the Braves.  That kid can hurl, I'll tell ya what.
