Nothing has changed? You, my friend are the idiot. Look at the team and not the history. Two years ago, the Buckeyes had the Heisman trophy winner along with two NFL receivers. They laid an egg against Florida. They weren't prepared by a longshot, but they deserved to be in the game. Last year they were out of the National Championship picture until the last three weeks when EVERYBODY else lost and they were left standing. The LSU game wasn't a blowout like Florida's, but really Ohio State shouldn't have been there. Had everybody else (Oklahoma, West Virginia, Kansas, Missouri, etc) not lost, they wouldn't have been there in the first place. Now what has changed this year? All those juniors are now seniors. That's huge, especially since there are so many of them and so many at key positions (linebacker, runningback and quarterback) How can they not be ranked so high? You want to hold every team to the past, then you need to not rank Florida because they lost like 4 games last year. Things change, you rank the team on the players on the field (their talent, their experience.....which includes how many years they've played major college football AND how many big games they've played in their career. For Ohio State, they've now played in 3 National title games in the past 6 years and they've played Texas as a non conference game with Vince Young at the helm and they'll play USC this year. Throw in the Michigan, Michigan State, Illinois, Penn State, and Wisconsin games and I think they're fairly tested for the big stage. I do think they'll have to just about run the table to make it back to the National Championship game because I'm sure the committee will be reluctant to vote them in again. Time will tell. I hope the Buckeyes give all the nay-sayers a big fat sh--burger to eat, go to their 4th title game in 7 years, win it for a 2-2 record in title games and have everyone else shut the heck up.
