Never know about the BCS...But no question they beat the Y. Hope to see them in Arizona again for another BCS romp. When is the last time the Y went to a BCS Bowl? Lou Holtz said the Utes have the best non-bcs talent in college football. God bless him and God bless the Utes!

Thanks for the tips Bakcer. I see sarcasm is not lost on you. It's almost like a second language.

Lou Holtz is the man.

You guys are really reaching for straws aren't you?

Lou Holtz! Isn't that the senile old coach still getting paid to be senile on ESPN? I wouldn't put much stock into his opinion.

Best non-BCS talent? That's a joke! Is that the same best non-BCS talent that has lost to BYU 2 years in a row? I hate to break the news to you, but if you had the best non-BCS talent, it would be you who is going to start the season ranked, not BYU and Fresno St. Keep dreaming though Velochi. You don't sound like a perosn who deals in reality much.

I love your little comment about BYU not going to a BCS game. You do realise that if the same rules that applied in 2004, applied at the beginning of the creation of the BCS, BYU would have played in a BCS game twice already right? You're right though. No question that Utah beats BYU this year. I mean after all, it is Utah getting all the preseason hype. Its Utah that is going to start highly ranked.  It is The Utes that have won the past 2 seasons. Is it the Utes that don't have to deal with the same team that beat them last year, returning just about everyone? Come on guys. Be realistic.

You don't sound like a perosn who deals in reality much.

That is funny stuff. Quite hypocritical actually. You do realize that playing the “if” game is not dealing in reality right? The end result is the rules didn't apply and you still haven't played in a BCS game. I like that I never hear that from TCU fans on here but it comes constantly from BYU fans. You are right though, pre-season hype and being highly ranked are the only things that are important, so you are definitely going to win. You do realize too (and this is real, not a hypothetical) that the Utes are going to be returning a loaded team? You do realize further that the past two years don't mean anything right? Until two years ago the Utes won 4 in a row but that didn't mean anything in the '06-'07 season did it?

When is the last time the Y went to a BCS Bowl?

Uh, when's the last time the Utes won a national championship in football?

Let's tone down the aspirations a little bit.  How 'bout when's the last time the Utes won 10 straight conference championships?  If we're going to compare past accomplishments, the only thing the Utes can brag about is the overall series record (the bulk of which was compiled back when football was less popular than the chess club).

Lou Holtz said the Utes have the best non-bcs talent in college football.

I speak from personal experience.  Lou Holtz is an idiot.  Have you ever actually tried to listen to his jibberish rants on ESPN?

You guys do have some talent, but best overall out of all the non-BCS?  Doubtful.  Johnson better than Hall?  Nope.  Mack better than Unga?  Unga already won that battle over Mr More Moves.  "Do you guys even have a tightend" over Pitta?  Do I need to answer that one?  You guys do have some supposedly talented receivers, however none have even come close to matching the numbers Collie has put up in what were basically two freshman seasons.  Defensively you're stout, but so are we recently.  I would take a healthy Sakoda over an injured Payne, but I think we've got you this year with a healthy Payne and an incoming Sorensen.

UtahUte,

I totally agree.  What happened last year ain't going to put a single point on the board this year.  However, it sure is fun to rub it in.

Ute, in case I had to spell it out for you, my post was in response to the unrealistic, fanatisicsm of Verocha. I made no predictions in my post whatsoever. I didn't say anything of the above mentioned was important, merely letting Verocha know thta his unwaivering faith that Utah has more talent, will be in the BCS and won't lose to BYu this year are pretty unfounded and uneducated statements. I fully expect Utah to be good, but if you're positive that they will be better than BYU this year, well the wise man wouldn't put his money on that.

Backer I guess you do need to spell it out. If my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle. If the rules applied then we would have gotten it, but they didn't and neither did we.

USCC of all the ridiculous things we have every argued about that has got to top them all. You would take a healthy Payne and an incoming Sorensen over one of the best kickers in the country?!?! Payne is terrible. How many games did it take him before he got a decent punt off because he wasn't so nervous he kept kicking off the side of his foot? Sakoda is an amazing kicker and gives the Utes a big advantage on ST.

I would take Hall over Johnson but I think our little Louks is going to surprise some people this year. Head-to-head Unga beat Mack, but this year we aren't returning just Mack. We are getting our starter back too. Our most talented wide receiver went down to injury last year, in his wake Jereme Brooks stepped us as a playmaker. We are getting both back this year.

Hey, I said I think I would.  Remember, an injured Payne booted three field goals on y'all.  And it's Santiago who was so scared of punting that he flat out dropped the ball against CSU and lucked himself into a first down.  BUT, even if Sorensen only lives up to half his hype, that would still be kicking the daylights out of Sakado.  At any rate, the ST at BYU this year will be greatly improved, and probably at least on par with Utah this year.

You're right, Asiata comes back.  But he's coming back from a significant injury, and he's still only got about four plays worth of Div I experience.  It would not surprise me if this season is all about getting his footing and edge back.  Get him and Louks in the backfield next year, and that should be scary.  However, it's not like we aren't adding DiLuigi to an already loaded backfield.  Different style of offenses, with different roles for the running backs, so a direct comparison is hard.  But I'm a homer, and I'll take our stable of running backs over yours.

I think our little Louks is going to surprise some people this year.

I agree, but I'll add that he won't get as much playing time as he should.  Word I heard out of spring is that he was out playing Johnson, but I doubt if he'll get even a third of the snaps come fall.

Jereme Brooks stepped us as a playmaker.

Are you serious?  The guy caught a whole 15 passes for 183 yards.  I look for good things from Casteel, and I'm hoping that he makes a full recovery.  However, Collie has close to 2,000 yards in just two seasons of play.  Reed is still a decent threat, and I'm excited about this Chambers kid.  He's got size and speed rarely seen at BYU.
