Top-8, Molina coming home -- not only does he GET HIS FOOT IN before the catcher even MOTIONS to tag...THE F-ING CATCHER DOESN'T EVEN MAKE A TAG!!!!!!!!
Don Denkinger has officially been replaced as the worst umpire in the history of baseball. This guy takes it with ease.
I will agree with you teets3. That was absolutely horrible. I didn't even need to see the replay in slow motion to make that call. I hate to say this but this is a time where baseball needs instant replay. Throw the red flag out, like football. That run could end up costing us the game. And you had Kennedy and Pujols coming up next which could have added some more runs.
Agreed: That was the worst call I've seen in my lifetime. The only difference between this one, and the ones that are recorded in the annals of history is that the Cardinals ended up winning this game, and it was in early May.
A call like that in the playoffs that costs the team a game would get that umpire fired.
That was complete and utter bullsh**. Everything went te Rox way tonight, errors, bad calls, the 12 foot single vs. Flores, but the Cardinals pulled it out facing adversity and that is what great teams do. Kudos to Parisi for tossing 2 scoreless. The bullpen saved us tonight and hopefully Izzy is Izzy again. Starter needs to go deep tomm.
I totaly agree with all you guys, and i never knew he was a bad ump but i do think you guys are over exaguating. Because just 1 wrong call doesnt mean that the ump is the worst ever.
Terrible and a blown call. Not as bad as the '85 Series though. The game last night was just very "odd". Errors, lead changes, drama. Kind of had a little bit of everything. The win last night might just be something to jumpstart this team on the road. We have a tough schedule on the road coming up throughout the next month or so. It had to be a huge confidence booster, and yet again Alber Pujols demonstrates why he is the best player in baseball. Did anyone think he was trying to bait them into thinking he hurt his back at second before he took off? Kinda looked like it to me.
No way was that a worse call than Denkinger's '85 Royals pay-off call. I say pay-off because there's no way that Jorge Orta was safe or even close to safe on that play -- he was a full step away from the bag! Last night's call was a case of the ball getting there in time, but the catcher was in the wrong spot. The ump called the play for the ball, not the tag.
Between that play and the Magic-Pistons game last night, it was a night of awful officiating all around.
There was no reason for that call to be missed. I can't believe that the other umps don't step in when a call is blown that badly. I am sure the others could tell, even from behind 2nd that he was safe. Unbelievable miss, thankfully it did not cause us to loose the game. Also, it is nice to see the Cards being so scrappy!!! GO CARDS.....
