Martin Prado might miss six to eight weeks with a sprained finger.  I really like the way Prado plays the game and he is a real good hitter; but the Braves got a good replacement for him.

Hate to see Prado on the DL, but agree that we picked up a good'un as a short term replacement.

I hope that during his time on the DL, that Martin learns that you do NOT slide into 1st base.  I'm sure it must be instinctive to do it when you are about to be out but that's where you have to be smart and THINK!

What is the current report on Infante?  Wasn't he supposed to be back after the first month?

Norton looks to be a good pickup as the Braves add yet another switch hitter to the roster.

ah I just found info on infante.  He's reporting to Richmond soon to begin his rehab assignment.  Gotta wonder now if he'll be called up to atlanta or if he'll stay in Richmond.

According to Dave O'Brien Infante will be called up after a rehab assignment. The Braves will then be left with the decision to trade Pena or reassign Corky Miller. My opinion is I would rather have Pena on the bench just for his versatility as a player and of course his bat. But if the Braves can get a good piece (starting pitcher) in return for Pena, then I say do it. The move today to get Norton, very good of Frank Wren I might add, will add the bat we need to the bench and allow us to concentrate on moving Pena. But, and I must stress this, don't just give Pena away. If there is nothing there then keep him and make the bench stronger. Miller can be reassigned to the minors.

When Infante comes off the dl, the Braves should definately get rid of Corky and keep Pena.  Pena is much more valuable than Miller off the bench or backup.

I agree to that.  I really like the way Prado plays on the field.  But with this injury I just don't understand why  Brent Lillibridge don't get a chance to develop into a good player as what the scouts predict his talent is very excellent.   His skills just need time to develop.  To me being at the Big Show shows what a player can bring to the club.  In that way  Brent Lillibridge should get some playing time so he can develop into an all star was to was scout say about him.  By being in the minors stating that he is not ready yet for the spot light.  Well I have not seen Norton play yet this year so I hope this trade is well deserve for the team to do instead of keeping it in farm system.

Go Bravo

I know nothing about Greg Norton

I'll look up some stats later before the Padre game

it seems, however, that the Braves
have been scouting him
and really like what they see
based on the many options to consider
and of the many player moves they could have made

let's hope he proves valuable
let's sweep the bottom dwelling Padres

GO BRAVES 08!!!

Why callup Brent from the minors?  Did you see that game he played in against the Mets?  He was horrible, I mean he struck out 3 out of his 4 at-bats and looked really overmatched against everyone he faced.  I don't want them to bring Lillibridge up, I want a veteran that can fill in and the Braves got a good replacement I think.

Indeed,  Lillie needs more farm work for the time being and clearly isn't ready for the bigs.  I still hope that we keep him around for at least another year though.

I like the Greg Norton acquisition.  Norton is no Bobby Bonilla, but this reminds me of the year that we did have Bobby coming off the bench.  It seemed  Bonilla reached base every time bobby(cox) called upon him.

Hopefully Norton can do the same.

I hope Wren turns out to be just as good as Schuerholz was at these deals but I'm not sure about this one.  Norton is a 13 year vet and until this day I have never heard of him.  He's a switch hitter with some power, from the numbers in the AJC.  But also, he strikes out A LOT.  Probably just a stop gap measure but I was unaware that the Braves were watching him.  Should be interesting to see what they do with him when Infante and Prado come back.
