Hey guys,
I'm coming over to Austin in October, and I'll be around for the October 25th home game against okla state, I've got a couple of mates that live in Austin, so I'll be able to get tickets.
Just wondering, what time do the games normally start? And got any advice on when to get there, what else to do once there etc?
Thanks guys.

Went on the UT web site, and no times have been set yet except for the ATM game.  Since it's starting to get late in the season, my guess is around 7:00 p.m.  TV contracts can change things though.  Since you already have friends in Austin, they will know what to do.  There is plenty.  A lot has changed since I was there, but I can guarantee you there will be plenty to do and see, if you know what I mean.  Especially if they are UT athletes.  They will know where.  If they don't, you better find some new friends. :)

hey panther fan....nice to have you aboard.  where are you coming from??

games generally start at 2:30 or 6:30.  the ok state game is usually a night game.

and once the game is over....6th street will be the place to be for a newcomer.  after you get used to the city though, that will get old but there will be plenty else to do.  it's the live music capital of the world if that's your thing.  one of the funnest places in the country as far as partying goes.

hope you enjoy your stay.

This just me...I know everyone has their favorite. Go to Chuy's downtown & have the beef fajita's...best in the state...& nation IMO!!

They don't advertise it (or didn't when I lived there 6 years ago...6 years my God thats too long...I gotta get back) but ask for the creamy jalapeno dip to go w/ your chips & salsa, it's free but you have to ask for it.

I'm military & a native Texan (east Texas). Ladies & Gentlemen I am here to preach...& I'm probably preaching to the choir...no state does Mexican food like Texas. I'm currently in South Carolina & the Mexican food here is an insult, as is pretty much other states I've been to. I used to eat at Chuy's every weekned. Now...I have to "psych" myself up for what they attempt to do here. The fajita's are chuck steak wheras Chuy's & most Tex-Mex joints is Black Angus sirloin, perfectly seasoned. I must stop. I can't wait to get back when I retire next year.

Like I said I know everyone has their fav Tex-Mex joint. But you stand a pretty good chance of catching Lance Armstrong at  Chuy's than any of the others Tex-Mex joints.

Go to Trudy's for Tex-Mex. Their food is awesome.

Have breakfast at Kerbey Lane. Their pancakes are out of the world.

Shop at Whole Foods market on Lamar. It is the first WF ever.

Roam about several of the local shops, which symbolize "Keep Austin Weird".

Try to get a tour of the UT tower, the view from top is good.

Go for watersports on Lake Travis, if that's your thing.

Go to Mt. Bonell to enjoy views of Austin.

Have coffee at Mozart's (Austin is incomplete without this).

There is a poll on the College Football Message Board asking whether UT means Texas or Tennessee. I think you all should go vote

bevo68:

It seems that you know your food much better than your football, but honestly man, who really cares about running into Lance Armstrong??
