Nicks in the 5th.  If this guy starts this year or next he will be a great steal!

Vilma as well is a good steal!

Strictly draftwise I would have to go with Carl Nicks, this kid is an absolute Monster. He was discussed with Round 1 talent and projected to go in Round 2 by many "experts" and here is this kid in the bottom of the fifth.

Now being put into a pool with Jammal Brown, Jon Stinchcomb, Zach Strief, Jermon Bushrod this give the Saints tremendous depth and security.

Only thing that concerns my just a little is Center I like Goodwin a lot but his backup steriod boy may not be around this year.

Overall Offseason the Steal was

Jonathan Vilma

Hands down no dispute!!!

Great job Saints Nation.. I think everyone is kind of on the same page here. If Vilma gets back to playing like he did his rookie season, he will be the hands down steal. If we can get 100 tackles, 5 sacks, and 2 picks from him, he will be our best pickup.

I think as far as the players that we actually drafted, Nicks has the best risk/reward ratio. He really could be a solid starter for the Saints by the middle of next year. I dont think anyone has too much high praise for Jon Stinchcomb so Doug Maronne could do some shuffling of the O-line depth chart. I think Ellis will produce the most out of all the players we drafted but he is not a steal by no means. We gave up a a pick in the 3rd to get him.

Its hard to say who the steal is now.  No one has seen the playing field yet for the Saints.  If I had to choose then I would say Vilma because he is proven.  But even with Vilma there is a chance of him not living up to potential because of the knee.  So IMO its hard to call now but the real steal could turn out to be Arrington if he can make the team and somehow get into the rotation and contribute.  I mean the guy has descent size and good hands but we all know we are deep at the WR position.  But being a 7th round pick, if he can somehow contribute that would be a steal.

Well said. . .

I will say the obvious.  Trading up to grab Ellis was the steal of the draft.  Ask Cincinnati.

If I were to consider FA as it related to the Draft..I would say a PROVEN VILMA. Just staying within the Draft...Moving up to get Ellis!  Nicks was a steal as well. And SO was Pressley...We had a nice draft. I really think Porter is going to turn out to be big for us in the play making department too--by year 2.
