Anyone else pick up on ESPN baseball tonight's show has only 2 promo commericals so far from 2008:

#1- Makes fun of Joba Chamberlain beign annoyed by bugs as the Yanks lose in the Playoffs to the Indians.  - John Kruck and his breifcase.

#2- Makes fun of the Yankees lossing to the NY Giants on a Bobby Thompson homerun in the WS. -Peter Gammon looking for "hot sauce"  . U have to see the commecials, if u dont know what i am saying/ or this doesnt make sense RIGHT NOW... before u see them..

Just take notice. I know its subtle. Is is bc the Yankees have been in the playoffs so much??  And have so many moments t make fun of. Come on, it couldnt have been like Buckener's error?Steve Bartman in Chicago?  Leon Durham through the legs? Joe Carter off Wild Thing Mitch Williams..........Somthing else. Some other team.. Why are they Yankee moments in futility?

I dont know, it just irks me. Especially since their senior Baseball analyst is Peter -Red Sox -Gammons. And their SUnday night baseball crew contains, Joe -I hate the yankees ,they are nothing compared to my big red machine -Morgan.   I notice details. Is it even intentional, that is my question.

You might be right, but living here in Orlando ESPN is my best bet to watch a Yankees game. Otherwise I have to wait until they play the Rays and watch it on local TV.

as a Yankees fan to another yankees fan, do me a favor and delete this blog post....the yankees were not the losers of the game in which bobby thompson hit the shot heard round the world...it was the brooklyn Dodgers....

Come on Debo, bad mistake. Espn hates NY though you are right but its very simple why. Steve Phillips was the old GM of the Mets so he must hate the Yanks. Peter Gammons is a Boston homer so he must hate the Yankees. Not so sure why fat Kruk hates the Yanks but he does. O well, 1 game back in the division, lets go Yanks!!!

I agree, there is definitely an underlying dislike for NY and the Yankees, by the rest of the country. It comes with being the winning-est championship franchise. Its no better when the Yanks are on FOX. McCarver and Buck cannot report or call anything positive about the Yanks. On the rare occassion that they absolutely cant avoid something positive, it is swiftly dismissed by any topic that they can find.

If you accept a position as a commentator or in the media, you should show some proffessionalism and restraint by leaving your personal dislikes out of the equation and report objectively.

Subliminal?  I would go further Debo, and argue that it's pretty overt.  ESPN is based in Connecticut and and has a number of Boston connections.  You have mentioned Gammons and Morgan, amongst others.  They poke fun at the Yankees with that commercial at the midges.  Think they'd ever show a commercial making fun of, oh I don't know, Spygate?  Never.

But there's also the excuses they made for the Red Sox early in the year.  And these excuses are still coming.  They've been to three different countries, Ortiz hasn't found his groove, Beckett and Lowell are hurt, blah blah blah.  No team has had a tougher April than the Yankees.  They haven't had a healthy lineup all year and it's been their more durable players-Jeter, A-Rod, and Posada who've had the most injury trouble.  A key mid reliever is out for the year.  Not to mention the fact that they've played 18 of 20 on the road, which, btw, is unheard of for a team in April in baseball history.  But you'll never hear ESPN make excuses for the Yankees.  Just for their beloved Red Sox.

Its no better when the Yanks are on FOX.
And there you have the biggest Yankee hater of them all-Ken Rosenthal.

Yeah you got a point there debo. I don't remember the last time anyone on ESPN said anything bad about the Red Sox, but i hear plenty of stuff negative about the Yankees..its pretty annoying. But then again, there are some people on ESPN that are fair..but plenty aren't.

Oh almost forgot..Every single year now..watch Baseball Tonight in July and hear Steve Phillips's annuel "The Yankees Will Not Make the playoffs" Or "The Yankees will not win the division"

ESPN is the creator of the term "Red Sox Nation". Everyones got it right, Gammons is the uber-Sox fan, Morgan, Kruck, and Phillips has their own ties. I think Buster is the only analyst to pick the Yankees to win their division.

They pick on Joba, and I think it's amazing that Joba never appears in their bit where they show nasty pitches on Baseball Tonight. His slider is ridiculouslBesides Melky, I've never seen a Yankee in the their top plays. I just saw Ensberg make a great play recently, and he wasn't there.

Also, I find it hilarious how right now, Boston is one game ahead of the Yankees and just got swept by the Rays, but the Red Sox are one of the top teams in baseball and the Yankees are awful, according to ESPN.  And about half of the bandwagon fans on cbs sportsline agree with espn, including some so-called "Yankee fans."
