Avoiding any poilitcal argument, has anyone else thought that this is a blatant NCAA basketball violation due to the fact that the entire UNC team and their coach were in attendance in which the media were present?

Numerous violations on an NCAA level but as typical with UNC I am sure this will get overlooked. Regardless of the "seriousness" of the practice there were some NCAA rules broken in this one.

BTW, my forefathers weren't here when the Constitution was adopted or when the blacks were enslaved, or during the Civil War.  My forefathers came here AFTER the emancipation.  My forefathers did not discriminate against anyone.  Please spare me the "We was treated badly" routine.  Climb out of the ghetto, get an education and get on with life.  Quit perpetuating this garbage.  I frankly don't care what color you are.  Just don't blame me for you circumstances.  Take some responsibility.  How did Obam get so far?  Was he the one black guy we let slip through?  Gimme a break.  He is where he is because he worked hard, got an education and didn't gang bang.  Get a clue.  Nobody is holding you back but your clinging to the past.

BTW II, produce one shred of evidence that the United States Government introduced AIDS to the black community.  Othwerwise, STFU!

BTW III, the spread of AIDS is caused by promiscuous sexual relations.  We all have the power to avoid that.  I don't have AIDS because I am not promiscuous.  AIDS in the black community is disproportionate because they are.  You do the math.

Obama is a joke with no substance in his politics. He preaches, "change, change, change," but has no idea how he is going to perpetuate "change." His association and refusal to denounce Wright and Ayers is all the more evidence that Obama himself has a lack of judgment when it comes to who he associates with. Furthermore, Obama has no experience in the area of foreign affairs, domestic economic policies, or any other important areas of expertise that are crucial to hold office.

While I am voting for McCain, I would rather have Hillary Clinton than Barrack Obama. Hell, I would rather have tree-hugging Al gore than BArrack Obama.

And it's not because he is black.

I am curious why people think that Obama is the correct man for the job.  I realize that people want change.  I would like to hear some specifics as to what changes in particular Obama will bring as president that "average folks" will be happy with.  Specifics please, why is this Senator who has only served 4 years so ready to lead this country?

Every Presdential election, there is a group that wants "change."  Mainly, it is the party NOT in power.  In a two-party system, some of the people are always going to want "change."  But saying it and doing it are two different things.  It is easy for an Obama to stand up and say "CHANGE"  It rallies half of the American voters (liberals).  They don't know or care to know what "change" Obama is talking about or how he plans to effectuate it.  "Change" is merely a rallying cry.

Substantively, Obama is devoid.  His associations are suspect and he has been painfully slow in denouncing them.  He can't, really.  If he rails on Wright, he loses his black base of support.  He is trying to do so now --- kind of.

Notice how the militants have disappeared from this thread.  What, can't find that ARTICLE and SECTION of the U.S. Constitution that explicitly says AAs count 3/5?  Can't locate that evidence that the U.S. Gov't planted AIDS in the black communities?  Hmm.  You had it handy just a minute ago!  LMAO

Guys, just an FYI, the creator of this thread is a lunatic, its best to feed the trolls! Don't try to correct this person, he/she/it thinks they are right all of the time and everyone else is either an idiot or blinded by the "media hype" (typical FBG catch-phrase). Just let the fool write whatever and don't pay him any attention, thats all he wants.

As for my personal views, I think Obama would be a bad idea, and as someone else mentioned, the vote needs to go to the person who is best able to lead our country now (i.e. experience!) and that person is not Obama.

It's threads like this that make the quote "winning an arguement online is like winning the special olympics.... no one really cares."   And I really doubt anyone really does win one.

The person that created this thread didn't mean any harm and was just promoting the fact that a 42 year old presidential cantidate was actually trying to play with the 20 somethings of a very high caliber BBall team.  It's something that neither Hillary or McCain have tried to do or maybe even possibly can do.  It does show that he is different from the other 2, even if it was just playing a little bball game.

The whole thing about his reverend/pastor has been blown out of preportion, it showcases 1 or 2 different occasions when he did fly off the deep handle.  But it is funny that the many other times he had a "normal" sermon, they were not paid attention to.  A black church is very different from a white church, in which you don't only get up to sing hymns and the preacher/pastor doesn't always use the same tone of voice, to name a few differences.  Differences which are very apparent in the video.

The statement that African Americans have been Shi**ed on for the first 180 years of the US's history  are very true.  And if it wasn't for great men and women that helped "level the playing field" on race then we still would have such tragedies as slavery, segregation, etc.  Many people turn a blind eye upon what happened throughout the course of the first 180 years or just simply acknowledge and expect AA's to just get over it.  There have been proven incidents such as in Tuskagee which was mentioned where the government did in fact take advantage of AA's.  This of course is not the only case and has been proven throughour history.  It is not far-fetched for the AA community to distrust the gov't or to have conspiracy theories such as the aids theory.  It is definetly not any different than a Roswell theory where the US gov't is hiding UFO's or the recently debunked Guantanemo bay theory which the US gov't denied until photos and reports did come out.

And let's not forget Katrina.

Obama is trying to do something and to go somewhere no other African-American has gone before, and I do congratulate him thus far.  I do hope he can challenge McCain for the leadership of our country and the free world.  I do think he shows more promise than his current opponent, who I personally think is living in the afterglow of her husband, a once great president.

Instead of calling names or being a jerk on posts why not try to back up your opinion or at least make it look like you too more than 5 minutes to post it.

Lastly I wonder if the UCLA fans are just mad because he went to UNC to practice, a far better contemporary  BBALL school, instead of in California.  Who knows..

It's the same remarks that now famous key men and women faced in key moments in histroy.  MLK jr, Malcom X, Rosa parks, etc.  Everyone said to give up, that things only worked a certain way around here.  That MLK jr' dream was just that, a dream.  And that It would never work in this world.

Obama's Hope has the same meaning as MLK jr's Dream.  Don't give up, fight for what you believe.  And you don't have to resort to the same political backstabbing that every other cantidate has fallen back on when they are falling behind in a race.

As Obama has turned his cheek, come up solutions instead of just problems.  What direction do we go? Just complaining gets you nowhere.

This is our world and it IS worth fighting for, you dont have to just give... FIGHT for what you believe in.

just a little historical note... african americans weren't defined as 3/5ths of a person in the constitution, they were defined as 3/5ths of a person in the 3/5ths Compromise, proposed by James Wilson and Roger Sherman in 1787.

Bruin - I'm a little disappointed that your disgust actually contains very little substance itself.  I find this ironic.  Anyway, you ask for specifics, so I will provide them.  It's up to you if you actually decide to do some reading and educate yourself.  So since you asked...

First, the 3/5ths Compromise was a real compromise (Article 1, Section 2).  It was ultimately over-turned by the 14th amendment.  No, the Constitution never explicitly stated that AA's were counted as fractions, but read between the lines, our founding fathers had to come up with a way of accounting for slaves when determining representation in the House of Representatives. Here is a link if you would like information.

Second, I haven't heard Wright speak at all - outside of the soundbites we catch on TV. I don't know if you believe in organized religion, but a church is a community of hundreds and in some cases thousands of people. If the preacher of a church says something controversial, does that mean the community should simply pick up their roots and move on? Clearly not.  Certainly some of the clips shown on TV could be considered problematic.  Ultimately though, I think it's unfair to judge a churchgoer solely upon who their pastor is. Anyway, didn't Wright retire?

Finally, as an Illinois resident, I have known Obama's name for a few years. I am familiar with some of his legislative work. I did a fast google search and found many policies Obama has been a part of. Here's an interesting article you might want to read.
