Yeah MadCr...they said Crandall was the most impressive player at the Kingwood Classic the weekend before, and now they said the best scorer in the tourney at the King James was DJ Richardson and that Brandon Paul was one of the top 5 players there; and Jereme Richmond continues to look like a "one and done" type player (of course if the new rule does go into effect we'll have to change that to "two and done").
Scouts and reporters from a lot of the hoop "services" like Scouts etc. were heard to say that they definitely had DJ rated too low, and Brandon Paul would end a top 50 guy at worst.
Brandon Paul got an invite to the NBA Top 100 Skills camp. That's not a small deal.
Too bad Joseph Bertrand sprained his ankle and hasn't been able to play much the last 2 weeks. He'd be climbing the rankings too. Tyler Griffey has also been playing well, but his team isn't very good. I think in one of his games he went for 25 and 10 and even hit 3 - 3 pointers.
Lenzelle Smith has an offer and you never know what may happen with schollies by 2010. Semrau may not take his 5th year if he's done with his schoolwork, someone may transfer. But if a big-timer like Lenzelle were to pull the trigger soon, you've GOT TO take him and figure out the rest later.
Our top priority for 2011 Mike Shaw was so impressive (playing with older players) the national scouts said that he'd also be a top 10 player nationally. We've also offered another kid out of Chicago Whitney Young - Sam Thompson - who is also supposed to be a big time 5 star kid. We're also looking at a top national big man from Texas to go in that class too (can't remember his name - Jerrance and Weber have already been to see him if I read it right).
They say the Illinois 2010 class is shaping up to be even better than that class that had Frank Williams, Corey Maggette, Bobby Simmons and I'm forgetting another of the 4 McDonald's AA.
