There's nothing wrong with Zito that a spell in the bullpen that a spell in the bullpen couldn't cure. Fresno's bullpen. Maybe a few games against Tacoma will get him to remember how to pitch.

I doubt that. It couldnt hurt though to try it by putting him on the DL and see what happens that way. Personally though I just dont see him being as good as he was advertised to be when we got him. Zito just hasnt been the same since his Cy Young year plus signing that ridiculous contract. JJEEEEZZZZZZZ

The Giants have to do something. He has been getting worse over his last few starts, at this rate he'll be giving up runs before he steps on the mound. I really believe it's in his head now and may not be fixable at all. Maybe he needs to take the route Rick Ankiel took and make himself a hitter, at least it'd keep him off the mound.

Don't see how the bullpen thing is going to work. He can't get through 3 innings as a starter.  It won't help his confidence to be blowing leads in the bullpen.  Besides we already have a guy blowing leads in the pen, Brad Hennessy.  If he's serious about getting this thing turned around he's going to have to go down and work it out, or pay someone to come in and work with him for a month or two.  Put him on the DL for a while.  If we tell everyone he's been injured, most would believe it.  We can't continue to pay him this much money for the garbage we're getting on the field.  It's time to do something.

Zito is robing us for sure.

If Dusty is saying he didn't look sharp then he must really look bad live.  I wish the MLB teams were able to cut players like the NFL where much of the contract is not guaranteed.

I think he is just a head case.  He messed with his delivery and couldn't get his rhythm back and now is just plain horrible.  I would hope someone has sat down with him and looked at his old delivery and tried to find out where the glitch in his motion is.

Put him on the DL for a while

I said the same thing on a different post (I think) Titan. Putting him on let's say the 30 day DL (I know people would believe it the way he's been pitching)  and send him to Fresno or San Jose at least and let him work his stuff out with the coaches down there for a while it wouldn't hurt any.

As for paying someone to come in and work with him, he's sure got enough money for that. Thanks to the Management

Well, thumper, there's one issue with your plan.  There is no 30 day DL, just 15 or 60.  That's just a technicality, though, as you could stick him on the 15 day DL and leave him there for a month.

That's not going to fix Zito's problems, though.  He's lost some velocity, and can't throw his curveball for strikes.  The first isn't something that you can fix by practice -- he was borderline having enough velocity to pitch well in the first place, and when you go from 87-88 to 83-84, you're not going to succeed unless you're Jamie Moyer or Tim Wakefield.  The second problem (curveball command) could possibly be fixed, but he's never been able to throw that curve for strikes.  People have just learned to lay off it because it's never in the strike zone.  Then they sit on 83 mph fastballs and 78 mph changes, and crush them.  Zito's done.  You can see the progression in his strikeout/walk numbers as hitters learned to stay away from the curve...his strikeout rate has been declining for around 5 years, and he's walking more batters.  His career as a productive big league player is over.

Ok icben then 60 day would be good. In fact it might be better for him just to see if he can work on his stuff. Sry for the slight technicality. As for Zito being done well maybe yes but sending him to the DL so he can work on his stuff might help find that out.
