we have some old vets back there on defense, so I am happy with the draft picks. The receivers in this draft are not that great, so I can under stand why we did not pick one. WE have another day to pick up our needs, and who knows if there will be some trades made. After every thing is said and done today, it will be fun to see this all unfold.

No soap box luka and that wasn't a jab. Starting a thread about the guy being iffy, to me, means you probably don't know a lot about the guy. The Giants prefer big corners and a pre-requisite for the position is that you can rush the passer from anywhere. Aaron Ross is a good blitzing corner, so is Thomas, so I see this as a "fit" pick. If you were insulted, my apologies. Not my intention...

NY4Life! Kenny Phillips played all 3 DB position's in college and excelled at all of them. Jerry Reese  said he liked the fact that Phillips was flexable and a move to SS may be around the corners for him. Sammy Knight is a stop gap for right now. Phillips had his best year playing in the box his sophomore year and with his size and strength makes the move to SS safety that much easier. This will open the door for Webster at FS because i don't think the Giants believe that Johnson or Butler can handle that spot, and by them drafting Thomas i wouldn't rule the move out. I'm not saying that it's a for sure thing i just read that a Giants offical stated that if the two guys competing for the starting FS spot can't separate themselves then Webster may get a shot there.

I was reading on his NFL.com profile that he could easily drop back and play safety when needed. I guess it makes sense. Pick a hard-hitting S in Rd. 1, and pick a quick and agile CB in second. Plus you have think, Sam Madison and R.W. McQuaters aren't getting any younger, and better to the develop the talent ahead of time.

Thought R.W. was gone... why we drafted a DB...  well moot point I gotta say I'm happy with the draft.  I'm sure we weren't graded to high last year and a lot of them helped out right away.  And the year before and so on and so forth... we can't just go on "Moss" being a bust or whoever being a bust and think what was Reese thinking drafting so and so...  so far with the draft last year he has done well with Coughlin as the HC we have done well... lets not freak.

You guys wanted a WR and got a darn good one with the 3rd round pick of manningham. Thats a very great value pick right there. Secondary was def. the primary concern and i think the Giants addressed the needs pretty well. They LB they got should develop well.

Def. a very solid draft
