What is going on? 6' 4 Malcolm Kelly a top 25 talent and top 3 in the WR class is passed up at 46? 6'5 Limas Sweed passed at 46? 4.2 40 desean jackson passed at 46? I am embarrassed. I am 100% positive jerome simpson from coastal carolina would be available at pick 97.

Chad I agree with you. Get out of here fast. Go to Pitt where they draft smart. (Steal Mendenhall at 23 and then even better stealing sweed at 53) No wonder Pitt is always at the top of the division.

Yeah, Sneed and jackson was where I thought that they'd go. From what I've read, I like the guy, just not as a second round pick. It just seems like they reached a little bit

Jerome Simpson was projected to be a 3rd- 4th rounder so maybe it was a bit of a stretch. I think he will become a GREAT WR. He has so much more potential than the other wideouts that were available.

Malcolm Kelly has two bad knee's and while yes he has the size for a good WR, the Bengals certainly do not need anymore injuries.

DeSean Jackson is way to small and the only thing he would have been able to help out with is kick returns. Also, the Bengals basically have a replica of him in Antonio Chatman.

Limas Sweed is another guy with health issues. He only played in 6 games last year and had 19 receptions, not exactly productive. He is a big physical wide receiver but he lacked the speed in college so what do you think the NFL corners would do to him.

The fact of the matter is that Jerome Simpson has a HUGE upside and we all know that it is a hard transition from college to the NFL, especially for receivers. So why not take a guy who has never had injury problems and is compared to Reggie Wayne on some draft sites? Like I said, it may have been a stretch but if you like a guy then why not take a chance if there is no other player around that you might want.

I like the Simpson pick.  I agree  he may have been early, but the Bengals, especially under Marvin have a history of reaching in the draft.  I think people tend to get wrapped up in big name players from big name schools.  Sure we have all heard of Sweed, Jackson, and Kelly, but plenty of great players have come from small schools.  Jerry Rice, T O, Moss, just to name a few.  Dont get too wrapped up in Kiper's (and others)draft board, all he does is speculate.

Cause not all the best players come from the best schools thats why. look at moss from marshall, what about jerry rice? mississippi valley state im not saying he could be jerry, or even two years ago in the draft Marques Colston from hofstra yeah sure simpson is a no name receiver in college but he could be a solid receiver and probably wont cause commotion about himself like chad or be arrested like crhis henry from the highlights that they showed he is pretty good himself, very athletic. those our my thoughts just being optimistic

First., let me say that I am a Cowvboys fan.

I live in Myrtle Beach (where Coastal Carolina is located) and have seen Jerome Simpson play many times.  The guy is the real deal -tremedous leaping ability and will score a lot of jumpball TD's thrown in the endzone.  I was really hoping Dallas would draft him in the 3rd round - Dallas was eyeing him big time.    Though the Cowboys have history of getting thug type players, the Bengals have assumed that role now.

Simpson is a class act and I think that played alot in this decision.  Trust me, most WR do not contribute in their 1st year - it usually takes 3-4 yrs.  You will not be disappointed with him down the road just give him a chance.

As far as no-name, most NFL teams had him on their boards.  He scored very high in the combine  good speed, tremedous leaping  ability and giant hands.

Im sure most of the country never heard of App St. until they beat Michigan at Michigan.

Small school doesn't matter if the player can play - Jerry Rice is a prime example

Well whoever wrotethe analysis thinks Malcolm Kelly could be like a Larry Fitzgerald. He is decent. Also the same expert said he wouldbe a great fit in cincinnati before the draft even started!
