I know we got Ryan. I think it may have been a good pick. It was take the top guy or get stuck with maybe the 3rd or 4tf guy. C+, I don't think so, remember it is about addressing team needs and what you can get later. They can address other needs about the same as the top couple picks in second round, not the qb position though. Good job Falcons! It will be the second and third round that breaks or makes this draft anyway, three picksin the second and two in the early third.

Follow up, at least we got the best qb in the draft. Argue with Brohm, but we got the best.

I think that the C+ the Falcons was given was harsh, but you made the wrong selection. I know that you desperately need a quarterback to jumpstart the rebuild in Atlanta, but Glen Dorsey was still available and shouldn't have been. You filled your biggest need but sometimes it's about taking the best player available if he is too good to pass up. Take the Minnesota Vikings drafting Adrian Peterson last year at seven. Peterson was the best player in the draft but people decided to fill their needs. The key in the first round is to grab the freakish talents no matter where they play. The Chiefs and Raiders have already done that this year by selecting Dorsey and McFadden respectively.

I'm sorry, Ryan might end up being a good QB, but this pick did NOT address an immediate need.  The Falcons 1st and foremost need to imporve their lines.  The Falcons "skill position" players are rendered useless by their awful lines.  Dorsey was the pick if you had to make the pick.  Ideally, you would have traded down and added another pick.

Ryan will probably be a good QB on a good team, but right now and for the forseeable future this pick does not improve the Falcons.  I am in no way a Ryan basher, in fact I feel sorry for him.

With all do respect.  This is EXACTLY why the Birds should NOT have taken Ryan.  They could have gotten similar QB value in the 2nd round.  There are no Dorseys, Ellises, etc in the 2nd.

BTW, I am on record saying that ideally the Falcons would have traded down.  They need quality bodies.

I agree trading down would be the best thing to have done. I think Ryan will be a good qb. I would have liked to see Dorsey first but I think they can get quality in the second round especially when teams are grabbing rb like carolina, or other positions because they are the best available. I just hope we dont try to get a wr again. Also who keeps letting out the word for these teams, these guys should be fired.

Matt Ryan at quaterback and Sam Baker at LT will make a good combination. Now we really need a DT hopefully we can draft one tommorow

i like how people freak out when people dont pick the position they want in the first round position wise. You can get very good quality players i believe up until the 4th round. There was no lineman worth taking at 3. If they wanted to go that way they should of traded down. I actually like Ryan, i watched a lot of bc games and he is a smart player, i can remember him holding to ball for so long waiting for his hideous receivers to get open and that kind of when he got in trouble. he also played in a pro style offense in college unlike a lot of qb's so that will pay dividends. Good luck Falcons and relax people there are more than 1 round in the nfl draft

I don't know about Ryan that early.  I live in Mass and saw a lot of BC and he threw way too many INT's.  Shoulda gone w/Dorsey and Henne later.  That's my take anyway.  We'll see if it works out.

The Ryan draft got a C+ because Dorsey was a far superior pick. It seems like Blank has too large a role in the draft process. Not only is Dorsey the better player, he is the better face for the franchise. I have never seen a Defensive Tackle talked about as much as Dorsey. Before the cowardly chop block by Auburn, he was the first legitimate defensive Heisman candidate since Charles Woodson.

He also would bring a winning attitude to a team that absolutely needs it.

If they had taken Dorsey and not traded up for Baker they could have Dorsey, Devin Thomas, Curtis Lofton, and Brian Brohm. That draft sounds unreal for 2 rounds.

Brohm also would not have been expected to play this season, which is going to be the biggest problem with Ryan. People are going to want him to play right away because of all the guaranteed money they are going to have to pay him, and he will not be able to play with the garbage offensive line in front of him.

Don't see how, knowing what we just went through this season, how you can blame Atlanta for grabbing the QB they wanted while he was available. I don't know much about football, but there's no way that was a C+ move Prisco. Maybe B or B+, hopefully A, only time will tell....but no way it's as bad as you say it is.  Falcons done good in the first round, apparently.
