I know Hawk has a horrible reputation outside of White Sox fans for being a homer and just annoying. I would say the last 3 years he has got really bad at always whining. It is getting really annoying. He always makes excuses for the veteran players but if a rookie or unproven player does something he wont drop it. I much rather listen to the radio than Hawk and DJ. I just wish we still had John Rooney if you could team him with Stoney that would be the best broadcast team anywhere. What does everyone else feel?

I don't agree with you at all. Would you really rather have those lames that do the Cubs games. Steve Stone is a great announcer but Hawk has a lot of love for the Sox,  He's not just an announcer he's a fan like me and you.  Yeah he has a lot of one liners that some think are annoying, but I love him. He's a lot fun and keeps the game flowing.

I don't have a problem with Hawk at all.  Through the years, many a "homer" have broadcasted games for various teams.  What they all have in common are that they are overly loyal and are passionate toward their teams.  Remember that Hawk's target audience are White Sox fans and not to the fans of other teams.  The fact that some of the games are broadcast nationally is, to me, irrelevant.  Cub games on WGN, Met games on WWOR, Brave games on TBS are/were no different.  Those announcers are going to target the fans of those teams.

It really isnt about the one liners or being a homer. I dont mind that but the constant whining that he has done about every little call its just really getting bad. I always said any announcer should be somewhat of a homer as long as it isnt a national game but for games on their own station I rather have someone who likes the sox. I just cant stand every game he crys and moans about at least 10 pitches through out the game. I also do not like his bias on the team either. He is always tough on newer players compared to players he likes. If Anderson and Swisher make the same mistake he would go off on Anderson but would say Swisher was hustiling and those things happen. Once again this isnt about being a homer but rather the constant whining about the umpiring.

I know that I am sick of his man-love for Carl Yaztremski.  He brought up stories about him at least 6 times during the first yankee game.

I also still cannot forgive him for his time as GM.  Seriously, Hall of Fame catcher Carlton Fisk in left field????

Hey they had to make room for the future Hall of Famer Ron Karkovice. "he got a gun" he also got a bad skin condition and a horrible bat. What about firing Tony Larussa? That was a genius move too. He does have a ridiculous man crush on Yaz.

My biggest problem with Hawk is how he takes a couple of innings "OFF" mid game and leaves DJ out on an island.  Almost every game, especially the less exciting ones, you will hear almost nothing from Hawk during a 2-3 inning stretch mid game.  I like DJ, he's gotten better each year, but his voice by itself with no feedback can put you to sleep after a few innings.

On the flip side, Hawk and DJ do have good insight, Hawk can be damn funny some times.  He is a Homer, but he also respects the opponent and praises them too.  I think he has more of a man crush on OZZIE than anyone else....do they ever question or second guess anything that he does ?

This may sound a tough crude but if it's a choice between having Hawk continue on every season or him having a heart attack and dying, bring on the death.
