In track racing, there has to be a starting point for women, and this is it. So, she won her first race on the fresman cicuit (wouldn't the Nationwide series be JV?). No woman has dome that before, and that makes this an accomplishment worth noting. There have been women in Nascar before, so there's no ground to break there. For all the hype and hoopla, Nascar has only been ultra competitive for 8 - 10 yrs. That's not to sat that the right team and right money couldn't get Danica qualified for some Nascar races.

I would be one to agree with you, though, that she is far from being a challenge in any Nascar races. That does not, however, minimize the fact that this is a noteworthy accomplishment. She's not AJ Foyt yet, and probably will never be, but she is the first Danica Patrick........the first female winner on the IRL racing series.

I'm not quite seeing your point.  Nationwide would be cosidered a 'JV' circuit by some; however most CUP drivers are working double-time and running in most if not all those races now.

NASCAR has been 'ultra' - competitive for a while; the only race that competes attendance wise for open-wheel in the US is the Indy 500.  The only ground breaking was she won, there have been women in open-wheel before as well.  Now, name her competitors?  All the top names are gone or they were in Long Beach for the last CART race this past weekend.

Can Danica run NASCAR?  I don't know, she runs a circuit with no bumping of the car.  Not sure if she can handle 500 miles of grinding and bumping.

Despite the fact that there are some drivers that pull double duty, the Nationwide series is definately the JV. Also, I was not talking about overall popularity in the US. I am well aware of Nascars popularity, and that by itself would certainly add to any pressure that would already exsist if Danica were to go to Nascar. However, if she were to try it, and be with the proper team with the right equipment, I don't think she'd have any trouble QUALIFYING for some races. Actual making it through would be an entirely different story. THAT is the $10,000,000 question.
