RUMOR: Dallas Cowboys Potentially Trading Roy Williams for Chad Johnson

Well Rumors began on an ESPN Radio broadcast about a possible trade between the Cowboys and Bengals. The Deal would be:

Roy Williams for Chad Johnson

If it is true and the Cowboys manage to pull it off then the Cowboys receivers would look like this:

Terrell Owens
Chad Johnson
Terry Glenn
Patrick Clayton

oh and a little pro bowl Tight End: Jason Witten

Hands down the most potent offense in the NFL.

Losing Roy Williams would be a hit to the defense. He struggles with pass coverage, but he plays the run well and he is a character guy. There is few NFL players with the character of Roy Williams. The Cowboys definitely take a hit to the character of their team though. With the recent rumors of Pacman Jones heading to Dallas, the addition of Tank Johnson and now Chad Johnson, the overall character is at an all time low. To be fair, Terrell Owens and Chad Johnson's problems are more-so on the field and not going to strip clubs and shooting people.

Who knows how true this rumor is.

Not likely - this first appeared a few months ago.  Or it's the slowest developing trade ever....

Man I like the Idea of Chad Johnson in a Cowboys uniform but to loose Roy would hurt I hope we don't do this one...

Oh man would that ever be great. It can't be real though it is too good to be true. Chad Johnson is a good receiver, and Roy Williams is horrible. I was hoping they could restructure Roy's contract because he is making so much money that we can't cut him.

This would be phenominal...... Get one of the best receivers in the NFL so we would have 2 top 5 WR on our team... And get rid of a guy who is the weakest link to our defense that couldn't defend a deep pass if his life depended on it......  But I doubt it will ever happen...

I'd much rather see a Roy Williams for Roy Williams deal.  The Lions' Williams is younger then CJ and would seemed to be a better fit chemistry-wise.  He also is getting less money then Johnson, which is another plus.  But if this happens (which i doubt) it would be great and we'd have an absolutely unstoppable offense.  A move like this, a deal for Pacman, and 3 picks in the 1st 2 rounds is going to set us up to make a serious push for #6.  It's going to be a great year either way.

I have to agree with you mea205.  A Roy Williams for a Roy Williams would be a great trade.  Detroit's Roy is from Odessa and he played for Odessa Permian and was awsome to watch way back in high school.  He was exciting to watch at Texas also.

The Ft. Worth Star-Telegram reports that the Cowboys are looking into possible trades with other teams for veteran receiver help, and that includes Lions WR Roy Williams. Lions coach Rod Marinelli has squashed Williams trade rumors several times this offseason. Williams is scheduled to be a free agent after the 2008 season, and according to a source, "wants to play in Dallas." Cowboys owner Jerry Jones didn't mention specifics, but did say the club is considering its options. "I don't want to dismiss that we could look at a veteran situation, and we could look at a veteran situation before the draft," he said. "This is that time of year when you do get good value for players, and picks for players get good value. Players are depreciated right now right before the draft; picks are premium. You've got to have your eyes open, and that's what we're doing." WR Roy Williams knows his name has been tossed into rumors about possible draft-day trades, but told the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram that he has been told he will be a Lion for at least one more season by the team. A popular landing spot in trade rumors is Dallas. "Man you know I can't answer that question," he told the Star-Telegram when asked if he'd like to play for Dallas if the former Texas Longhorn isn't in Detroit.
Jerry Jones needs to work hard to make this happen, because the current Cowboys Roy Williams has lost his desire to play the game.  It seems all he wants is money.
