Brodeur, overrated ummm yeah that's a good one, since the BlueCoats last won the Cup in 94, Brodeur and Co. went on to win 3 Cups to the Rangers, yeah that's right, O Cups. He's won the Vezina 3 times but somehow he's overrated. I am not a Devils fan by any means but to say one of the greatest goalies of all-time is overrated is ridiculous. Try getting past the 2nd round this year, something your boys in blue couldn't quite do last year. Congrats on beating the Devils but next time your gonna post something that says something as stupid as this, have some common sense and think twice about actually posting it.

Marty is overrated because people are saying he is the best ever. He is great but not the best ever. You can make stats say whatever you want them to but they will not tell you that the Devils were a good great defensive team and played the trap. That is the reason for the shutouts and wins being so bloated.

Here's my example, would you say Emmitt Smith is the best RB of all-time. Your answer is probably no unless you are a Cowboys fan. Well just check the stats. He has the most yards right and 3 rings right?

Stats are fun but there is more to greatness than just stats.

I could give a damn about 1994. All I care about Is cheering the Rangers to a stanley cup (hopefully they win it. GO RANGERS!)

As far as I'm (and other Rangers fans are conserned) you can take those 3 rings, and  SHOVE it, no one cares about your 3 rings.

Plain and simple: Henrik Lundqvist played much better than Martin Brodeur in all 5 games.  That is the reason why they lost.

The Rangers won because they have a better offense, and the Devils defense was lousy, not because of Henrik Lundqvist.

robman if it wasn't for the King, the Devils would have won games 1 and 2, and this series would be probably going 7

Wait until your old enough before you approve of Avery's conduct, not to abscond Brodeur for not shaking his hand, but it's obvious to me you didn't see Avery's conduct in the first place. Had a hard time believing that something like Avery did could happen in a pre peewee street hockey game, let alone the NHL. It was embarrassing to watch as an adult (have been watching these playoffs with my 13 year old son ).

Just a general statement to those who might be trying to shift the onus on Brodeur. Always takes an instigator , and considering Avery's classless act , can understand why Brodeur might need some time before shaking his hand, it was that despicable in my mind. No crime was committed but to make an analogy would you shake the hand of a rapist (maybe the woman invited him for a coffee), or bank robber ( maybe the teller left her post with the cash register open), after the fact. Know the comparison is extreme but there are certain comportments that just aren't acceptable and to shift blame on others gets me riled, as you can see ;-).

I am a Penguins fan, I dont like the Rangers or the Devils, and especially Marty...and i dont blame Marty at all for not shaking Avery's hand. Marty is a hall of fame goalie, with three stanley cups to his credit, amongst other Conn Smythe and Vezina and Hart Trophies on his resume...if you were him, and on the tail end of your career, you didnt want to shake somebodys hand, i think you have the cred to do whatever you want to do. Avery's antics are going to run him him into a team that is more talented overall(Penguins) or has a better power play(Montreal) and hurt his team more than it helps. The Rangers are a good team...but not good enough...good for Marty if i had the career stats he did and i didnt feel like shaking someones hand because i didnt like them..what do i have to prove? nothin...

I love this stuff. This is awesome!!! Congrats to the Rangers for beating one of the worst Devil teams in the last 15 years. I was shocked the Devils actually had 99 points this year since our team had been depleated over the years of talent which we have never really been replaced by our so-called great GM Lou Lam. You guys looked awesome. Lets see how you now do against a real team in Pittsburgh or Montreal. That will be the real test of how good you guys are. As for Marty, I do agree he should of shaken the hands of Sean but he was a very upset loser and I would be too. He not only upset that he lost to the hated Rangers and that Avery did what he did ( I thought it was kind of funny but then I actually like Avery and hope the Devils sign him next year) but that he playing net for a crumbling team in front of him. If i'm him, I ask Lou for a trade next year. That being said, please don't kill Marty for this series or his career because face it, like it or not he is the top one or two goalies (Roy maybe 1) of ALL TIME and that can't be taken away.

Poor Marty. Did Avery hurt his feelings?. Maybe he should stay in his crease instead of coming out 2-3 extra feet. Why do you think the Rangers set the screens right at the top of the crease? To keep Brodeur in the crease as much as possible so he couldn't play his stlye.

I am sure he had no problem shaking Claude Lemieux's hand after they won the Cups with him. So for all those who thought Avery did not get in Marty's head, you were wrong. The stick waving screen play was only one play in a five game series.

The Rangers outplayed and outcoached the Devils. 11-2 vs them this year. It will only get worse as Marty is getting old. Maybe playing 80+ games a year is too much. They better start trusting a backup soon.
