Why do Marty have to be a sore loser and not shake Sean Avery's hand? Avery extended his hand for a handshake but this classless goalie named Marty didnt wanna do it.

Yeah, Brodeur seems to have let all his past success go to his head. Maybe this humbling experience will benefit him.
I love how Avery got a good jab at Marty in a post game interview: "Everyone says how classy or unclassy I am, but I guess fatso there, just forgot to shake my hand."
Ha!

I thought Brodeur was beyond that. It' just shows how much it hurts the Devils to lose to the Rangers. 4 times out of 5 playoff meetings.

Marty just cursed the rock by not shaking Avery's hand. It will be known as the Avery Curse. I hope it lasts.

Its a shame to see that Marty didn't shake Avery's hand, but that goes back a while. Classless? Yes, but you can't say that Avery isn't. and to all of you people who say that Brodeur is overrated, or not the best there ever was, I guess you haven't checked the stat books in a while. by the end of next year he will obtain the career shutout and wins records to go on top of all of the other records and honors he has received in his career. You are all just bitter that Lundqvist will never be as good.

A lot of the media is saying Martin Brodeur is justified for not shaking Sean Avery's hand. These are the same pundits that are saying Bill Belichick is not putting enough effort into his handshakes or is doing them wrong. At least Bill goes out there and shakes each hand win or lose. Sometimes Bill is so excited to shake hands he needs to get the cameras out of the way to hug the opponent. I'm not saying either one is right, but people can't criticize Belichick and praise Brodeur. You can't have it both ways just cause you like one better.

Seriously, you Ranger fans are classless, just like your favorite player. Marty has three cups, and this will go down as the highlight of Sean Avery's entire career. Don't worry, Ranger fans, Lou Lamoriello will get this team back on top. Enjoy it while it lasts.

I got news for you bud. 1997, 2000, and 2003 was a long time ago. No one cares now.

bksballer89 and silversword, sorry to point this out but it's not definite that the Rangers play montreal or boston. Actually, as it stands right now, if the Mtl and Phi win, rangers would be playing the Penguins.

bksballer89, too bad you will be most likely playing Pittsburg the next round, and it is impossible for you to play Boston. Did you hurt yourself when you jumped on the bandwagon so fast?

Silversword, if 1997, 2000, and 2003 were a long time ago, i guess 1994 is an eternity. Devils will be back and better next season, as they have proven in the past because they have the best GM in hockey. It is just an off year for the Devils, they got hurt in Free Agency the last few years losing some of their best players.
