now let's steal Chris Paul and get that cahmpionship ring. does anyone think there is any chance in the world New Orleans would part with CP3? we definitely have the money to offer, but could it happen?
I have to admit that Chris Paul would look fabulous in the Trail Blazers Red and Black, but i would have to say that CP3 is about available as LeBron James. The problem with trying to get Paul is that he is the face of that franchise. They just made the playoffs, and earned the #1 seed, none of those things spell dumping your quarterback, and floor leader.
Yeah I definitely don't see Chris Paul going anywhere anytime soon, but if the Blazers are able to and he still available which i'm sure he won't be they could try to get Rose. He would be a great fit in Memphis. Even Chalmers if he decides to go pro would make a nice fit.
Portland has done everything right the last few years and I applaud them for that. Getting Greg Oden last year was a great move even though he hasn't played for them in the season yet.
Shipping Randolph to New York and getting Frye was a moved I called and thought was good for both teams. In hindsight the Knicks are just terrible. I think they should get another solid lottery pick this year to add to young nucleus.
Imagined this lineup next year depending on what pick they get. I'm saying they'll get lucky and get a Top 10 pick.
As for Chris Paul I think New Orleans will lock him up for a while which is the best move for them. Portland is the team to watch next year as long as they all can stay healthy.
Pryzbilla has shown he can be a monster on the boards. He also has great shot blocking skills. Lamarcus has been developing his blocking skills also. Oden, well the big dude will probably be blocking shots also. Controlling the paint is big in this game, as well as getting easy buckets on the other end. I'm feelin a "block party" like no other next year!
I like how throwing Frye in the mix can change the game also. He's got a very good outsdie jumper that opens up the area around the basket and has shown all season he can be effective in that range. There's a lot of lineup combinations that they will be able to do to change the focus and complection of their offense.
Don't forget James Jones and Martell Webster also...makes you think twice about double teaming knowin they can drop treys all day. I'm interested in seeing what they draft and how the team shapes in the next few years. I've very excited too. :) I think they need better guards, with the exception of roy. Jack is ok, and steve takes care of the ball and knows his place, but they aren't as explosive and talented as others obviously.
As much as I'd love to see Chris Paul in a Blazer uniform, I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell of that happening. New Orleans ain't going to give up the best player on that team. They'll do what they need to do to keep him. I could be wrong but I seriously doubt it. It's a nice thought though.
I am hoping the Blazers can move up in the draft (either through trade or another lucky bounce of the lottery ball) and draft Derrick Rose. I think he'd be the missing piece of the puzzle that could take them deep into the playoffs, if not all the way in the next couple of years.
My prediction for next year's record: 50-32 and a #4 seed in the playoffs.
I think we're missing a huge point, guys. The nucleus that these guys have now are a bunch of good, selfless guys. Baron Davis, Chris Paul... They're great players, but I think the philosophy of the team would fly in the face of the direction the Blazers are heading in. I'm a Laker guy, grew up in L.A., can't run away from the purple and gold... but now I live in the Northwest and am growing fond of this team of great players! I have a son on the way and see a team full of guys I'd feel good about my boy looking up to. They're well on their way to being a perennial playoff team. Most of their losses were very close... if only they can find a guy about 7'6" who can jump, block, shoot and close out a game... Oh wait! There's this dude, Greg Oden on the way... As far as the draft goes... I think trading up is a terrible idea. They don't need a star, they need a couple great role players. Their 4 picks will get them a couple and they'll be fine. They're long, slender, athletic, talented, they know they can win in streaks... Not a bad way to start the offseason! The only thing stopping them is experience in crunch time.

Anyone have an idea on Rudy Fernandez and when he is coming to Portland. I have read and heard that he will be a stud for Portland @PG, but have never seen him play. I also think they need to become a little less dependent on outside shooting and they have to run a lot more. I am not sure where they rank for fast break points, but I am thinking they were near the bottom in that category and given our youth we should be able to run with any team. Also I am not sure how anyone sees 50-32 getting a #4 seed, Dallas finished with 50wins and they are a #7 seed -- the West will continue to be tough.
Oops! The #4 seed prrediction was a typo on my part and I just now caught it after reading the post. I still think 50 wins will happen but given the toughness of the Western Conference, I am thinking a 6 or 7 seed.
Please, no Baron Davis. He is a talent, however he seems a me first point guard. Portland has a good team right now. Davis has his own agenda and he has shown that at Golden State and New Orleans. Miles was the last of the cancer. They don't need to add a new problem egomaniac.
You people forget that with Darius gone the Blazers will have a lot of room under the salary cap. I think they will trade one of the youngsters for an experienced player. And I think there may be several guys who would want to be part of a team with a bright future like the Blazers.
Anyone have an idea on Rudy Fernandez and when he is coming to PortlandYou know Jodomo, I was under the same impression for some time last year about Fernandez, thinking that he was going to be our PG of the future. nfortunately he plays SG, and his style of play isn't indicitive of a star PG in the NBA. He's got a lot of game, at least in Europe, but at this point I think it would be more likely that we have Brandon Roy run the point and insert Rudy Fernandez at SG. Some NBA sources hae also indicated that it is possible that Fernandez come to play for the Trail Blazers next season. But at the end of the day nobody knows, because it's up to Rudy when he wants to leave his current team..... Hopefully not another A. Sabonis situation when we get this guy after he's 30 and broken down, even after drafting them when they were teenagers.
