Rollins ruled out until weekend.
Rollins has already been ruled out until Saturday, at the earliest. He will leave the team for the next two days to fly to Oakland to attend a funeral for an uncle. He'll return on a Friday red-eye.

The way this is going, it could end up being a full 15 days without him back full time anyway. Yeah, he pinch hit, but even then he can't run fast, and if he gets on, you have to make another move by pinch running for him. I don't get why they didn't just DL him.. at first, I can understand just taking it day-to-day to see how it feels, but once they realized it wasn't gonna be just a couple of days, they should have just DL'd him retroactively to the day after it happened. You could have added another player to the roster as a bench guy, and wouldn't need to make 2 moves for 1, like when using Rollins. Now that he got into a game last night, you can't DL him, cuz it would have to start today, and end 15 days from now.. unless he would really be out that long, but I would doubt that. If Rollins had not gotten into any games after injuring his ankle, today would have been Day 9 on the DL, and we know he's not gonna be around for Day 10, and Day 11 is iffy. He would have been available for next Thursday's game, which would have given him a little extra time to heal more, and not rush back, even if he was feeling fine by Day 11-ish.
If he's back sometime this weekend, great.. but I don't get how you have a guy sit on your bench for over a week, without DL'ing him, knowing he can't perform well enough to be effective in game situations. They had no problem DL'ing Shane almost immediately.. and yeah, that was probably cuz he had a similar thing last year, and Rollins isn't known for getting hurt.. but still, you're using up a roster space for someone who's not playing, or won't be useful for anything other than a pinch-hit homer, and J-Roll isn't exactly the kind of guy you use for that.
