from 1950 to 1996, auburn and bama had the best games ALMOST every single year.
And all this time I thought it was the Big Ten fans that were living in the past...

"Penn State being in the B10 I think hurts the North for rivalries. Tradition school not playing its natural rivals. Pitt/Penn State and Penn State/WV as early as next year would be huge."

23 conference titles decided by this game, over 100 games played, Toledo war, HBO documentary, coaches fired for losing this game. Largest crowds in NCAA history, both in attendance and national TV.

I don't know about alot of rivaries, but Bama VS Auburn I have some personel experience with. I am from Balt. Md. and my family moved to southern Alabama...near mobile. These people are fanatical Bama fans. My brother actually liked Auburn before they moved down there. He had an Auburn hat and jacket....he was for warned by my sister who had lived there for 5 years not to wear it in public....needless to say he didn't believe her. He wore it to a madi gras parade and proceeded to get his azz kicked. Two broken ribs 35 stiches and a concusion. OH yes they hate each other passionately.

Thats because we have a little thing....dont know if you have ever heard of it.....its called a competitive conference.....
It's like the gator guy said....the only reason it is a rivalry is because it normally decides who will win the Big 10. What a joke that is. It just shows how sorry your conference is.
Down South each team has deeply hated rivalries all over. Auburn's rivalries are BAMA, UGA, and LSU. I hate all of them equally.
UGA has rivalries with Tenn, Florida, Auburn, and believe it or not, the South Carolina series and history is nasty. This is true for almost all 12 teams. Tenn has rivalries with Florida, UGA, and Bama.
In the entire northern region of the country you have one relevant game....Michigan and Ohio State. Big deal.

zampa thinks for sharing. The idiots from ohio and michigan think because THEY ARE from GOOD education states, that THEY KNOW without a doubt the only rivarly is osu and michigan. What they don't know is down here FOOTBALL MEANS MORE and auburn and bama fans are the elite of that stance. Just ask keith jackson and he has done EVERY rivarly game 10 ways to sundown and he AGREES with the ALL knowing and I like having HIM on my side of the tracks, not on the ASSUMING side of the tracks like so many osu and michigan fans assume versus KNOW.
