I don't know about a football team in L.A I mean in L.A is just Raiders, Rams, so called Cowboy fans etc........Unless you bring one of these teams to town .... If a team comes to L.A expect a stadium to have a hard time getting 50,000 fans, but either way the NFL needs to get a team in L.A because it is the 2nd media market in the US...

Sure some people will stick with their current teams, but you will see a lot of those Raiders & Rams fans adopt the new team as their own.

If they add a team in L.A. wouldn't the NFL have to bring in another team as well? Which city would get the other franchise?

I don't know what the rules are about a Canadian team being granted, but I hear a lot of talk about Toronto wanting a team. I think the Bills played there or are going to play there for a game.

I don't know if the league is ready to expand again.

I've always heard rumblings about the Saints coming here. I don't  know if the NFL would be willing to take the PR hit by pulling its business out of the Gulf area post-Katrina.

Jacksonville has always struck me as a city that maybe wasn't quite deserving of a franchise. I know college football is big in that region. Does anybody have access to attendance figures somewhere?

As soon as Ralph Wison passes on, expect the L.A  Bills. Congrats on getting a crap franchise.

The article didn't say whether the stadium needs public financing.  if it does I doubt it will happen.  USC and UCLA have great fan bases.  There is no lack of football in the area.  A pro team will have to win for the fans to show up.  Both the Rams and the Raiders left.  That should be a sign to potential owners.  The NFL has a cash cow now.  They don't need the Los Angeles market at this point.

I wouldn't want to see the league expand.  32 teams are perfect.

Here is a team that I could see in LA.  The 49ers.  They have been battling for years to get a new staduim.  Keep the team in the same state so no need to reallign the divisions.  I think that would be good fit.

Biting off more than they can chew,
L.A. is the east coast version of Atlanta no one cares about professional football there, they are all transients. If you grow up in L.A. you have no allegiance to the city no one who is a real sports fan grows up there anyway. Its a waste...keep it the way it is for now because the NFL finally has something going. Don't even get started talking about the salary cap.

I agree with Mervin. Realignment would be a tricky bitch. Even worse would be if some team like the Bills moved to L.A. and there WASN'T a realignment. Any team having to fly cross country three more times a year for "divisional" matchups would be at a great disadvantage. That crap gets tiring.

Food for thought (a.k.a. teams I could see going to L.A.):
Raiders
Rams
Chargers
Vikings (stretch... owner wants new stadium IN MINNESOTA)
Chiefs (biggest stretch... tons of fans would hate the NFL for this one)

Thoughts

The NFL doesn't need to have 4 teams in California.

Either send one of the existing CA teams there or tough luck, no team for you.  The NFL has enough teams already so there won't be an expansion team.

hmmm...

There's plenty of football fans here in LA... actually no there's not. Unless you go to specific "bears" bar or something along those lines... Most bars in LA suck sunday morning. I don't see that changing anytime soon. Most people are from out-of-town anyway ... like me, most wont give up their "home" team to root for some "new" LA team. Let's just face the facts! .... This city is just not manly enough for football. Sorry if I offend anyone... but LA is all about glamore... not hard-nose hitting. One important thing you have to take into consideration .... there's a HUGE USC and UCLA fan base here ... Saturday AND sunday football might be too much. That's why in NYC the Jets and the Giants work .... there's not one decent football collegiate team within 200 miles. I would love to see the Jets move to LA .. and follow the steps of other NYC franchises. but, that's not happening. so... i really don't care if there's a new team or not.

Oh by the way ... 20 miles outside LA means a 2 hr drive on game day. yuk!

I know one division that does this already, kinda.  NFC East.  Cowboys got to travel from the southwest to the midatlantic coast 3 times, and the other 3 teams got to travel there at least once.  The league doesn't mind so long as there is a divisional rivalry.  Look at the NFC West...all those teams gotta travel pretty far to face each other, especially St. Louis.  Now if it were a Hawaiian team...that would be truely a pain in the A.
