Tiger Woods is seven back at the masters heading into the weekend. So my question is will he comeback? He is miraculous. So can he come back?

Nope. Tiger's winning scores in the 4 Masters he's won so far were -18, -16, -12, and -12, which means he had his "A game" going in all four of his wins. He definitely does not have his A game this week, and he's been struggling just to stay at par. I figure the best he can do at this point is a -7 by the final hole on Sunday, and unless an awful lot of golfers in front of him just fold up, he's going to end up about 3 to 4 shots (or more) behind when all is said and done. The only thing that will get him back in it is to shoot somewhere around 65-66 tomorrow and get within 3 shots of the lead, and the way he's playing right now, I don't think he has a 65 in him. I'd love to see it, but at this point, I think his dreams of the grand slam are pretty much dashed.

Good points BabyG: I've been wrong before, and would love to be wrong again. It would definitely be a much more interesting Sunday (for me), if Tiger managed to get within striking distance. I did not get to watch any of today's round, so I can't comment on how Tiger played other than to say his round seemed to be very inconsistent with 4 birdies and 3 bogeys, one of those on the par-5 second which is usually a good birdie opportunity. The good news is that his final bogey came at 10, so he played well over the last 8 holes with 2 birdies. I understand he had a fairly long putt to save par on 18 though. He just doesn't seem to be hitting on all 8 cylinders this week and his putting speed may be off just a tad. I've seen him rim out two putts so far, including one from around 7 feet today, so it looks like he's been a little too aggressive. That's fixable though, and a good round tomorrow could turn all of that around. At least that's what I'm hoping for. I'll definitely watch tomorrow's action.

Tiger we play himself into contention BIG TIME tomorrow. The scoring average will decrease as there is chance of rain and wind will pick up. They predict heavy win on Sunday.

His approach on 17 was the best shot he hit all tourney (beside the eagle chip in rd 1) and a clutch par save on 18 should have him feeling good.

I wouldn't be shocked if he was tied for the lead tomorrow with a -5 or -6 total score

If Tiger goes out, plays well, and moves up the scoreboard, it will help his cause greatly just in intimidation factor...." uh oh here comes Tiger ".  The weather too, is a big factor.  The tougher the conditions, the better for Tiger.  If it just pours rain and stops, it will favor the field, because it will turn into a shootout.  Tiger needs some wind and continual rain/drizzle to help his chances.  He is playing well enough to get back into contention.  He wasn't knocking down pins yesterday.  Most of his second shots, were outside 25 foot.  He scared a couple of holes with longish putts, but none fell other than the 1st hole.  His birdie on 17 and "masterful" play of 18 yesterday may help his psyche, if, (a big if) he was having any doubts about his acuity.  If he shoots 68 or better today, I like his chances.  Trevor is playing great, but can he maintain his head in this major?  I'm not sure which announcer, but he predicted winning score at -6 or-7....so...it's still anyone's jacket to be had....it will be great to watch this weekend!

Tiger probably got more out of his round yesterday than he deserved. His iron play was atrocious, probably occasioned by his horrendous drives, and his putting was mediocre at best. I don't see him being a factor in this year's Masters, and would expect him to fall back to the position of "also-ran". I see the winner coming from Weir, Mickelson or Goosen.

umhula77:

What you are saying is that Tiger does not have the talent (needs rain/drizzle wind) to get out of the situation he created.  Maybe you should ask "Nino-Jezus" for divine intervention.

kinik - exactly the type of response I have grown accustomed to, whenever I see your name on a post.  I have ignored the majority, but now that you've directed one of your posts to me, I will respond.

It's more than obvious, you are the type of person that bemoans the media and then turns around and spins,  just like them.  I never said, or am I saying, "Tiger doesn't have the talent".  I offered mitigating circumstances that MAY help Tiger overcome the deficit he is currently in.  If I had wrote, "Tiger is going to win because he has the talent to easily overcome a 7 shot deficit", you would have cried about that too.  Tiger does have the talent and even a not so intelligent, anti-Tiger such as yourself would be hard pressed to argue that FACT!

Get some cahones and offer more than just antagonistical dribblings!
