If you think what was on his hand is sticky dirt, then your a moron, the stuff on his hands was PITCH BLACK, the dirt on the infield is BROWN and rossin is WHITE. Brown and white don't mix to make black, pine tar, on the other hand, is a very dark shade of brown that looks like black from a far, just like in the photos.
So if he puts a lot of dirt on his hands and uses a lot of rossin shouldn't this have happened before?? at least once??? no it didn't. His aliby dosen't check out.
Bud Black says he puts his whole hand in dirt all the time, so shouldn't there have been "dirt" somewhere else on his hand instead of on his index finger, middle finger, and thumb(the 3 main fingers for pitching, especially fastballs, Peavy's best pitch which was working at abnormally well performance.)
I'm not condemning him, I can't prove anything but, it's extremely sketchy and i'm never gonna take him the same as a pitcher ever again, he's good, but it looks liek he's not as good without a little help.

Don't you have something better to do with your life in "Kelowna, BC"?
I think all the Pads starters were using foriegn subs on their fingers since J Germano pitched 6 innings 0 ER's vs Dodgers, and C Young pitched 7 innings 2ERs....and Peavy pitched 9 innings 1 ER.....so the only logically explaination is they were all using pine tar.

So true Atomic Yams.
I mean because Jake Peavy has been such a terrible pitcher before this point. When you take away the Cy Young award, the strikeout titles, ERA titles, All-Star appearances, the low career WHIP it is clearly evident that he is just an average pitcher. Judging from his previous stats, it's obvious that he couldn't have a dominating pitching performance without a "little help". Seriously, his fastball and slider usually top out in the low 90s and he was locating them all day. With such marginal stuff, how could any pitcher strikeout 8 hitters and only allow 1 run without a "little help."

you said it yourself..."shouldn't this have happened before?" Hell, maybe he took a crap between innings and didn't wipe well. He's not cheating, he just has poor hygine. So lay off the back-to-back Cy Young, I mean at least he's not roidin out

It seems you're taking my words a little too literally, he was already a phenominal pitcher, he dosen't need any help, I would love to see him in a dodger uniform but he has Bonds syndrome, Barry Bonds was one of teh greatest already, the only 500/500 player ever, but he wasn't satisfied, he needed to be the best, so he cheated, and now his legacy is ruined and everyone is rooting for A-rod to take the record and rid the world of the evil that is Barry Bonds. What I'm saying is Jake Peavy isn't satisfied with being of the greatest, he wants to beTHE greatest nothng wrong with that, BUT he had to cheat to do that, he had a foreign substance on his hand and he lied about it, you mentioned his control, well pine tar on his fingers ties right into, Dodgers hitters(who have seen Peavy many times before) said his pitches were moving in an "unnatural way, not like his pitches had before." His aliby dosen't check out, it's complete bs.
Oh and by the way, Clayton Kershaw is gonna make Jake Peavy look like Brett Tomko when he comes up.

Peavy will have eight zoom lens cameras trained on him on his next start. Let's see how that goes before we all get excited ("ESPN").

and that's the way it should be, if he's caught, he'll get a 2 or 3 game suspension and people won't look at him the same ever again.

FYI... that statement above is a condemnation if you can never take him as the same person ever again.
and now his legacy is ruined and everyone is rooting for A-rod to take the record
at least until they find "dirt" on A-rod.

No one will ever look as bad as tomko (except Loiaza)
Dodgers hitters(who have seen Peavy many times before) said his pitches were moving in an "unnatural way, not like his pitches had before." His aliby dosen't check out, it's complete bs.
I don't know where you got this....
From the LA Times: "Said Dodgers catcher Russell Martin: "Who knows? It's probably dirt and sweat."
Finally, I have a deep respect and admiration for your baseball knowledge (also you hockey prowess) and you know that I am a Padres fan.... but, to get all up in arms about a guy who has a 10-1 record against you since '03 may deserve a bit of a benefit of the doubt considering this is the first instance of anything being made mention of when he has pitched to anyone.
I don't believe that there are any manners in which this will be resolved anyway, much like Kenny Rogers before. Not to say that if it was cheating in the actual pine tar sense he should go unpunished. I just think, and everyone can blast me for being biased all they want, that if he did cheat and it is pine tar then why allow the substance at all, considering the rules regarding 18inches isn't followed, the possibility for altering pitches and the fact that they are both relegated as ways to improve performance.
Oh that's right.... because baseball encourages cheating.... at least until congress steps in.
(I sucked in our hockey league... just a final note)

yeaqh I know I beat you in teh game for 11th place haha.
all I'm saying is that I want to see this situations taken more seriously, I got that quote from a piece on the Dodgers website, look it up, it's a little bit further down teh newsfeed now but I think it's still in there. At least wash it off, don't leave any doubt, he dosen't need people challenging his credibility, if it's not a big deal then why did he not just wash it off??
