It looks like Nova will loose Grant.  This is not a terrible surprise since Wright's taller lineup was effective at the end of the season and there is every reason to think Corey Stokes and Dyane Anderson will continue to be very productive next year.  I suppose it also is a confirmation that Scottie Reynolds will be back at point next year.

I certainly wish Malcolm well.  He had several electric performances early in the season.  He will surely do well where ever he decides to play.  Does anyone know if he has to sit out a year since he has received a "release"?

Although Nova will be a bit thin at point next year, there are several highly regarded High School Juniors who are interested in coming in '09.  I suppose this only makes Nova more attractive to them.

Yes, he will have to sit out.

This MAY be a precursor to Tyreke Evans signing on.

I still think Grant deserved playing time over Redding, and I HOPE he doesn't transfer to another Big East school.

Well, I think if you transfer to another school in the same conference you have to sit out 2 years.  So i really can't see him doing that (esp. considering he already prepped a year before coming to Nova).

Villanova needs a big man.

No news there, lol. We have needed a big man since Fraser had all his knee troubles. I am hoping Drummond comes back strong from his injury problems next year, but we still need to add a quality big man or two.

As for Grant, this is no surprise. He didn't get any playing time down the stretch and it seems like he fell out of favor. He will have to sit out a year regardless of where he goes and I wish him the best. He has ability and should do well wherever he ends up....

I think a healthy Drummond along with Cunningham and Pena should do a nice job down low.  Cunningham has been showing more offensive skills to go along with his steady defense.  Pena showed glimpses of  his talent along with the expected inconsistencies of a red-shirt freshman.  I think he will be improved next year and be a solid contributer.  Hopefully Clark will be healthy as well.  They'll need a few minutes per game from him at power forward.

Thanks for addressing my question about sitting out..

The comment above about Tyreke Evans is interesting. I think it helps in that it makes absolutely clear that Scottie Reynolds will be at point next year and so not taking minutes at the shooting guard spot. With Stokes and Anderson playing well one might be concerned that giving Evans 15 minutes might cause some grumbling among current team members. However after experiencing the depth of Kansas it is easy to see that you need quality depth to make a deep run. Shooting guard may be the most important position for this. You want fresh legs at the end of the game so you can still shoot 3's.

Redding is taller than Grant. He got playing time due to his experience and defense against opposing shooting guards.

I think Grant would flourish in a conference where his size would not be as big an issue and so he could play some shooting guard. I won't be surprised to hear that he goes off for 30 or more points some time in his career.
