NAVARRE...HENSON...
From now on EVERY Michigan QB will be called the next BRADY. If Henne is smart he will stay at Michigan because teams will draft him just for the oft chance he becomes the next BRADY
Actually not one well educated football fan should ever say it again about a Michigan QB. Navarre, Henson, Brady, and Henne all have something in common, Llyod Carr. They played in his system. Now that Rich Rodriguez is the coach you can't compare any of the QB's in his system to those of the previous regime.

Navarre was a joke that Notre Dame picked on badly. Meanwhile, Notre Dame is a joke that is picked on badly.

Henne will do well on the right team, but Matt Ryan, Brian Brohm, Joe Flacco, and John David Booty are definitely better. If a team like Detroit drafts any of these guys that one guy will move in the right direction under John Kitna. I do believe he will do well, but Brady is not the guy to compare him to. Brady has every weapon there is basically right now, so there is no comparison. Booty could definitely prove people wrong if someone like Carolina drafts him. Flacco and Brohm will have the best careers, and Ryan can be a star if he lives up to the hype. Hopefully none of these guys fall to the 6th Round like Troy Smith.

Basically Chad Henne is comparable to Tom Brady for a few reasons and no one is saying he will have the same career as Tom Brady. But there are similarities.
First both did play QB at Michigan. Both were surrounded by great wide receivers and an overall good team.
Both had good bowl game performances in their senior season.
Neither were projected to be first round picks.
Both have good arms and can manage games.
Looking back at the NFL combine when Brady was drafted in the sixth round, he didn't look like an NFL QB but a tall, lanky guy. He trained, learned the play book and waited for his chance to play.
He got it, made the most of it and the rest is what they call history.
I'm not a fan of Brady, Michigan or the Patriots, but at the time they needed depth at QB behind Drew Bledsoe and added a good late round pick. I'm sure they didn't think at the time Brady would be able to fill Bledsoe's shoes and do what he's done.
I'm not taking anything away from Brady. He is a future Hall of Famer. As for Henne, he is just waiting for his chance - like Brady - to make an impact and help whichever NFL team drafts him.
I think he will be a nice pickup whether its the second or sixth round. Any team would be happy to add a QB like Henne. I wish him the best of luck come the draft weekend.

Wow. You are an ungrateful football fan. ther are many people in the past and the future who would love to have seen Brady perform in his prime, winning championships and setting records. Just because the Patriots are your most hated team doesnt mean you should diminish anything he's done while trying to make Pennington the next Montanna. Pennington never had an arm and he's been careles with the ball, he wasnt hurt last year, he just didnt play. Why? Becuase he's a bust. By the way, Montanna said Brady was better than himself, so case and point.

WOW! Talk about a tangent.
The guy is writing about Henne's stock rising and only uses Tom as an example of another great QB from Michigan with success and a simular last game. The writer never claimed Henne was the "next Brady" only that scouts shouldn't make the same mistake on him as they did by passing on Brady till he ended up with New England.
The fact is Henne is a great QB. If you go to Michigan and start as a freshman ahead of a junior who was supposed to be "ready for the helm", then your pretty damn good. Especially the old Michigan, run by an old school coach like Loyd. I got to see everygame Chad played and he was good to great in all. Maybe one or two bad games but every QB has those. His ability to play the game physially and cerebrally will land him much success in this fans oppinion and the scouts should listen to this writer.

I think its pretty funny how everyone bashes this years QB class but no one really has a damn clue about how any of them will do. I think Ryan, Brohm, Henne, Flaaco, Woodson, and Brennan have potential. For all any of these experts know they all could go on to be great QB's and lead their prospective teams to super bowls one day. Yeah I know there probably not a snowball landing in hells chance but there is always the possibility. I really hope all these guys prove everyone wrong and especially the ones who think none of these guys deserve a first round pick. On top of that, (Mel Kiper=idiot) thinks last years class was just soooo much more talented than this one. Guess we will see when Jamarcus "fatty mcgee" Russell steps on the field and rips defenses apart wont we Mel. Give me a damn break "experts".

I agree with most of what your saying about Chad Henne. He is a great quarterback...a little immoble...but he has the best arm in the draft. The thing i'll point out is that although he was good enough to start for UofM for 4 years, the only reason he started as a freshman is because Matt Gutierrez separated his shoulder 3 days before the wolverines home opener that year. I thought it was going to be a tough year, but they did pretty well. Chad Henne should be the second QB taken...

Brady wasn't impressive at the combine which hurt his draft status. His picture in shorts and shirtless looked more like a pitcher than a qb. Brady possesses all the skills and makes excellent decisions. The Patrots priority on protection has much to do with his success. Rarely is he pressured or hit so most games end with a spotless uniform. This luxury hinders any comparisons with other qb's. Put him on the Lions and his star will be dimmer.
