There were a couple of tactical errors late in the game that no one is talking about.

Self made a mistake going to the box and 1. The hdege pressure on the screens had been working very well all game long. Switching to the zone allowed Memphis to steal the energy of the game. By the time he went back to man, a 3 point lead had turned into a 7 point deficit.

Memphis made an error by continuing to attack the basket from the 3 minute mark without taking the clock down. Had the chosen to run a little clock, things might have turn out different.

Collins mad a tremendous mistake by not puling the ball back out, instead choosing to go 1 on 2 with the score 62-60. If he pulls it back out, and Kansas scores, we are not talking about missed free throws.

As for the complaining about not calling a foul during the last possession of regulation, that late in the game, the refs will only call a hard, blatant foul. Collins was moving so quickly that it was not possible to get a good bump on him. The only way to have fouled him would have been to grab him and throw him to the floor. That would have been intentional. The complaining that "Kansas was intentional fouling" is immature and stupid. Yes, they were trying to foul, but they did it while attacking the ball, not the player. No ref will ever call that. Get over it!

Your team choked, Kansas made the plays it had to make. The hardware is on its way to Lawrence Kansas. It was a game of runs, and the most important one went in favor of the Hawks!!

Not sure how many of you all watched ESPN after the game.  It seemed to me that everyone but Bobby Knight was mad that KU won.  If KU would have lost they would have talked about how good CDR , Rose and Dozier were.  KU wins and all we here about it what Memphis should have done (foul instead of letting them shoot the 3, take your time and hit free throws, Rose should have taken more control of the game, blah blah blah).  If KU would have lost no one would have talked about anything they could have done to win because "Memphis was the better team" yada yada yada.  Dickey V (the ULtimate flopper) didn't really give us any love and neither did Digger Phelps.  They are all haters.    Looks like the finally can say we played someone or did we just luck up and beat a weak Conference USA team?  There has to be some excuse why we won besides we are a pretty good team, with good players that play well together.

KU got no love all years so here is to the HAWKS!  ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK KuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuU

As a former Memphian living in Dallas for 13 years, I must say that was the most exciting sporting event I have ever seen!  I thought we had it in the last few seconds...but it was not to be.  What an emotional rollercoaster.  You can always, regardless of who you are, point out reason after reason why we lost.  CDR and Rose were contained very well, regardless of their final point totals.  Calipari should have called a time out w/ 10 secs left and fouled!  They woulda gotten 2 and not 3.  I told my mother(who lives here also and watches all the games with me) six weeks ago that free throws would keep us from winning a close big one.  After the UCLA game I was not worried about FT's, until the game got going and we started missing.  There are many reasons we lost, and many reasons Kansas won.  The bottom line is they outplayed the Tigers when it counted.  I don't think it's a choke as much as an incredible team making an incredible comeback.  (Hopefully this will help with recruiting next year.)  CONGRATS TO ALL JAYHAWK FANS!  YOU DESERVE IT GUYS!  ENJOY AND I HOPE WE GET TO MEET NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good game, but NO credit to be given.

U of L fan here. Bottom line, whether it's the "Little Sisters of the Poor" or the School for the Blind" playing, when a team has a 9 point lead under 2 minutes it's "turn out the lights & call the law" because the game SHOULD BE OVER. No matter who they cheer for, fans all over the nation KNOW that Kansas flat out stole a national championship from Memphis due to Memphis CHOKING BIG TIME! End of story!

I hope the Jayhawk fans continue to show some class on these boards.  You guys won, you played better, and were the better team when it counted.  By the time the day is over, and I have cried in my beer(lol), I will be over it.   I think everyone should be congratulated on such an incredible event, and trash talking time is over.    Both teams should have a healthy respect for each other, as well as the fans.

I think the thing that so many people tend to forget is this...   these guys are still "kids" who are playing a "game".  I think it is unfair to say that Memphis "choked".

It is unfortunate for a team as talented as Memphis, that they do not play in a stronger conference.  It is the teams that play a more difficult schedule that are more experienced in handling the pressure in close games against strong opponents.  Let's face it...   good programs play difficult schedules and deal with the losses in their season so that if they are so fortunate to get to the championship game... their kids have the experience to make the big plays under pressure.

I am truly impressed at how strong Memphis played throughout the tournament.... particularly the championship game.  I do not believe for one minute that they choked, but just did not have the experience in "big" games that the KU kids did.....  they were beaten by one of the most reputable programs in Division 1 NCAA basketball.  Did you hear Bill Self thank all of the past players and coaches in the KU program??   He understands......

There is something to be said for RPI's and strength of program...  other than recruiting.  One of the best things that could happen to the Memphis program would be a change of conference.

Again... congrats to BOTH programs.

well said greenTIGERFAN!  What an amazing game.  All of you haters out there need to give credit to both teams.  I for one never thought either of these teams would make it but they battled through some tough teams to get there, and both had their moments on both ends of the floor last night.  Memphis may have choked and KU may have caused it, but I must say I was in awe of both teams at certain points of the game last night.  I offer congrats to both teams on a great game to watch.  Hard fought and both teams deserved to win in the end.  I still can't believe what I saw last night.  AMAZING!
